Lan Wangji did not see even the shadow of Wei Wuxian for the next 24 hours. His mind cheers with the quietness it brings, yet his insides felt quesy.

His room is just opposite Wuxian's own. He curiously stood by its door from time to time, listening for movements inside or even a little noise, but it was just too quiet.

Wangji felt wary. There's this saying which quotes 'Beware of a quiet man, for he might be planning something and strikes when one is resting.'

"Are the rooms soundproof?" He turned to Wen Ning when he felt his presence behind him.

The man regarded him, shaking his head. "This villa was made before soundproof option was made available. It hasn't been renovated since. So I am afraid the answer is No, Detective."

Wangji bobbed his head, pressing his lips in a thin line. His eyes gazed back at the door, thinking. He wonders how the wildly active and overwrought man can coop himself in quietly.

Wen Ning grinned behind his back. "I am to deliver Young Master's lunch. Would you help me bring it to him?"

Wangji took the job instantaneously. He carried the food tray to the writer's room, knocking softly out of courtesy but noone answered from within. His sense of duty pushed him to open the door. What came to view was a sleeping Wei Wuxian.

Wangji sauntered quietly, landing the tray on the adjacent table and carefully grabbing the book from the writer's lap before it falls from the loose hands of the sleeping man.

Wuxian's relaxed face beseeched the cold Detective's awareness. He had gotten thinner, paler but he still looked beautiful despite. Wangji's fingers travelled to caress the smooth skin. One touch and it burned him just like before. He flinched and pulled his hand back, amber eyes dimming with the memory of the past.

He moved away, his inner walls fortifying his defenses.

"Lan Zhan...?" Wuxian's weak voice implored, blinking his unfocused eyes to wakefulness. But Wangji refused to meet those almond beady eyes. "Eat." He said and left the room just like that.

"Lan Zhan!" Wuxian clambered out of bed in pursuit of Wangji's figure. His body made an awkward thud on the floor, grimacing at the collision and the pain on his sprained ankle from yesterday.

Wuxian was feebly recoiling his limbs when the door bursted open and Wangji's amber eyes landed on him.

Wuxian strainedly chuckled, drawing back his plastered ankle from Wangji's vision. "Ah! I was too careless, Lan Zhan. Carry on, don't worry about me." He grinned from ear to ear, only his best acting skills couldn't fool the sharp man in front of him.

His bad leg was pulled by the grim man and Wuxian can only awkwardly chuckle again while rubbing the back of his nape. "It's alright. I have an arthritis you see." He lied, choking on his words when Wangji's hand pressed on his swollen foot. "Argh! Lan Zhan!" He screamed. "That hurts!" He pouted, glaring at the innocent floor because he just couldn't hold grievances against his Lan Zhan.

"Lie to me again and I'm gonna pull your tongue next time." Wangji spat, spooning Wuxian's body off the floor.

Wuxian giggled unashamedly thinking how he would like Wangji's warm mouth to pull out his tongue. He wouldn't even complain! Beaming wide, he encircled his arms on Wangji's neck and pampered his sense of smell with Wangji's addicting Sandalwood scent as he rested his head on his firm chest. "You still smell the same, Lan Zhan."

"Silence." Wangji ordered.
