'Will Wuxian's stalker case be one of those which will never be solved?' Wangji mused, head in between his palms.
It had been almost a week and the stalker ceased to exist. The culprit never showed up again. 'Was it just a one time prank?'
Who could tell?
Despite Wangji and Cheng's effort to collect data, they were reaching the limit of the best that they could do. Without any solid evidence, no fingerprints or traces, or new appearance of the perpetrator, they couldn't move on with the case. Wangji's fist curled, knuckles turning white, disappointed that it might be his first case to go cold.
Wei Wuxian? The man lives his life as normal. Many would envy his leisurely lifestyle. Staying at home, being served well, while money pours in his pocket.
He would yawn and sleep in the mornings, carrying the heavy dark bags under his eyes. Wangji though at first he might be sick or something, but one night he discovered why.
The writer works at night. His keyboard taps non-stop in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. Wangji slipped to his room one evening and the man did not even saw him coming in or going out. He was totally engrossed with his work, almost not blinking. From then on, Wangji got used to hearing his keyboard tappings as his lullaby.
That day, Wangji just got an email from Officer Jiang. 'I might be able to bring you back. Hopefully, if nothing happens in the next couple of days.'
Wangji had a mixed feeling with this, if he'd be honest. He doesn't like leaving unresolved cases. Or is it something else?
He drummed his fingers on the table, thinking how to respond to their Head Officer's message or whether he has to.
He needed to think.
Wangji tipped his head to the balcony. Seeing the bright sunny day, he walked towards it. Just as he slid the door open, he heard giggles, the melody warming his soul.
He ventured out, head turning to the source of such merry laugh.
'Wei Ying.'
On the otherside was Wei Wuxian playing with a white furry hare with a familiar bluish-white collar on its neck. Wangji's features softened.
"Lan Zhan!" Wuxian called. "Come here!"
But it wasn't as simple as that. What was going through Wangji's inner side is more painful than the longing and rough cracks Wei Ying had left him. Thus, Wangji stayed glued in place, fixing his composure as memories forced its way into his subconscious.
"Lan Zhan?" Wei Wuxian came to him, voice worried with a feather touch of melancholia. "Don't you remember him?"
'Wuji.'
The bunny's collar showed.
Wuxian and Wangji.
"He's almost 5 now. Do you want to hold him?" Wuxian smiled.
Wangji tilted his head to the side, palms closed, eyes shut, jaws clenched.
"Here! Hold him!" Wuxian insists, pulling Wangji's arm across his chest and putting the soft furry ball in his arms.
"Wuji." Wangji mumbled, eyes focused on their bunny.
"Did you miss your other Dad?" Wuxian grinned poking the sensitive ears of the old hare. Wangji felt warmer than the hearth from the sun. He was burning...
melting...
falling...
Wuxian grinned at him, showing his pearly bunny teeth. "Oh you smiled!" He looks surprised gazing with wonder and adoration in his eyes. "Lan Zhan, you smiled!"
"I-I did n-not!" Wangji stuttered, molding his lips back into a thin line.
Wuxian's eyes crinkled, cupping Wangji's small face in his palms. "You did." He whispered, full of love. The same second, his lips claimed what was his'. He pulled his Lan Zhan's face close to his, giving him an unhurried kiss. Soft and tender. Slow yet melting.
He pulled himself away after a minute, rose blush tainting his fair cheeks. "I only claimed my price!" He averted his gaze, biting his lower lip unconsciously in embarassment.
Meanwhile, Wangji stared at him. Shocked, mind-clouded, while his heart raced and leaped in its cage. Certain memories were invoked by the sweet touch of their lips.
"Lan Zhan. Oh Lan Zhan! If I make you smile, I'll claim your lips. Do you dare?" The cheeky young Wei Ying challenged the unsmiling young Lan Zhan who was already boiling with anger from within. The young man was known a protege, a model student with a composure of austerity embedded to his bones. Noone can provoke him and noone dares to. But there is this mischievous new recruit, Wei Ying. Bugging, pestering and clinging to Lan Zhan as if he wouldn't survive a day without making fun of the young Lan.
And he succeeded.
Wei Ying had claimed Lan Zhan's mouth and the whole of him, including his once stone cold heart.
They found love, made love, but he also broke that love.
"Lan Zhan..." Wei Wuxian softly called and the amber irises heeded him. It looks at him, through him. It calls for him like it did in the past. "Lan Zh--mmm!" Wuxian's lips were caught. His mouth taken. "Wei Ying." Wangji breathed, releasing their Wuji and pulling Wuxian's body closer to him.
