Mark Masa

I was awaken by the soft buzzing sound from P' Vee's vibrating phone that was placed on his pocket and is now about to fall to the floor. He was sleeping peacefully beside me unaware of what's happening. He sleeps like a log. I grabbed his phone preventing it from falling, still a little disoriented from sleepiness. I raised it to my face to see whose calling and see Ploy's name on the screen.

I removed my head slowly from P Vee's shoulder to stare at his phone that constantly flashes Ploy's name. When the call disconnected, I saw that there were more than 7 missed calls from the same person. The screen lit up once again. This time, she sends a message.

Ploy N: Vee where are you? Why aren't you answering your phone na? I need your answer now.

My eyebrows unconsciously raised itself with the message I just read. Did P Vee made it clear that there was nothing going on with this girl and him? Why is she demanding attention like this? Is the person beside me obliged to answer the call from a girl he strongly insisted that he wasn't involved to? More text kept on coming when there was no reply from P Vee's side.

Ploy N: Vee! Which one do you like then?

Ploy N: You have to choose now. I am getting on the nerves of the sales lady over here.

The next message came with a picture of a pretty girl's hands holding two signature watches. I don't know what I am feeling right now but I'm sure it isn't happiness.

Ploy N: Fine! If you are not answering I will have to choose the one that I like then. I'm sure you will like it anyway. I know your taste. 😏

When I was sure no more text is coming, I carefully slid the phone back to his pocket. My mood is all erratic right now. I looked at the handsome face of the man beside me and begin doubting everything again. How can he continue exchanging messages like this with that girl when he was also busy flirting with me? And did she seriously buy him a signature watch like that?

I lean back on the back rest and closed my eyes when P Vee moved beside me. He rubbed his eyes and jerk a little when his phone on his pocket started vibrating again. Damn that girl isn't done choosing yet? He took out his phone from his pocket and when he saw who was calling, he looked my way for a bit. He must be thinking I'm still asleep because he can't see through my thicked shaded sunglasses that my eyes were only half closed.

"Mark?" He asked softly. When I did not respond, he slowly stood up and bring his phone to his ear to answer it.

"Krub Ploy?" 🙄I heard him answer softly before walking at the back of the bus far from me.

So it all comes to this? We start from square one and I almost forgot that square involves someone named Ploy. How can I compete with that beautiful girl who came into his life before I messed it all up? I guess playing hard to get will not work with someone like P Vee.

He returned with a big grin on his face. He still checked if I was still asleep and pulled my head down to rest in his shoulder once again. Ugh. I feel so sick inside that I wanted to vomit. He begin flirting with me right away after talking to that girl.

But seriously though, I feel like vomiting. I jerked off from P' Vee's shoulder and scurried towards the front of the bus leaving P Vee shocked as I went. It was a good thing that P Yiwah was attentive enough to noticed me that she immediately called the attention of the driver to stop the bus. I hurried down as soon as the door flung open and squatted on the road side throwing up everything inside my stomach. It was painful how the undigested food pushed itself unwillingly out of my body, passing through my throat and mouth, that tears started to well up my eyes. I'm not so sure if it's from the pain of the heartburn(acid reflux) or my heart is suffering more than what the acid from my stomach had caused.
