Vee Vivis"Vee! You have to decide now damn it!" Yiwah snapped at me impatiently while holding the two gold bangles at the top of her palm. I dragged her in a jewelry shop to help me pick a present for Mark. It'll be his birthday tomorrow and since I have canceled that signature watch I made Ploy buy for me in Hongkong, I have to choose for another thing to give him. That watch was the cause of a major fight between us when we went to Koh Samet for the Gear Ceremony.
Though Mark apologized for the mean words he had said back at the beach, which includes degrading my taste for expensive things, I have decided to just drop the idea of giving him a watch.
"Uhmm. What do you think Yiwah? Which one best suits Mark?" I asked Yiwah the question for no less than 10 times already. I like both though because no matter what the design is, it would always look good on Mark's beautiful wrist.
"Ugh Vee. You decide like a girl! Make up your mind already!" She complained shoving her hands holding the two items closer to my face.
"Fine! I'll take the left then. It's simplier and lighter. I bet he would like it." Yowah finally sighed in relief.
Mark likes wearing accessories such as rings and bracelets. He was always wearing that gold Cartier bangle his mom had given him along with some Pandora bracelets for men he wears at his other hand. I'm getting him another rose gold Cartier Bracelet that will go along with his gold one. It cost almost a quarter from my savings in the bank, but who cares. I wanted to buy it for him anyway.
So my next problem after I have secured my gift is the lunch we will be having with his parents. I don't have much trouble with his mom but his dad still gives me a headache everytime we meet. It's not that I'm afraid of him, I have passed that stage ages ago.
The thing is his dad always makes me feel like I am having a competetion against him. He always want to show me that he's a better man than me. I was glad Mark wasn't able to get his father's traits. He's unbelievably self centered for an old man!
"P Vee relax. Why are you so tense? It's not as if you're meeting my parents for the first time." Mark hold my hand under the table as we wait for his parents to arrive. They have reserved a table in a fine dining restaurant for this special occasion. Mark and I preferred to celebrate his birthday in private but his mother insist so we have no choice but to oblige. Anyway we will be having dinner all for ourselves later in his place.
"Ugh. I know. I can't help it. You know how my nerves reacts with your dad everytime." I told him but he just smiled at me.
"It'll be over soon P. Just hang in there and soon enough we'll be alone for a private dinner in my place." He told me looking at me suggestively as he leaned closer to my face. I was tempted to kiss him right then and there.
"Eherrm."
We pulled away from staring at each other and sit more appropriately when his parents finally arrived. As usual, his father wears that scrutinizing expression of his which was the opposite or Mark's mother. She was smiling so sweetly as she came to hug his only son and kissed his cheeks after wishing him a happy birthday. She then proceeded to do the same to me. His father just sat opposite from us and gave his son a small nod and wished him a happy birthday that sounded so forced. Mark and I wai'd at him on respect.
We ate our lunch while chatting from time to time about our studies, internship and some other topics his mom would open.
