"Augh!" I shout as tumble off Mariona's shoulders and into the water. My eyes and nose sting as I swim to the surface, bursting my head into the air and coughing for air as Feiya laughs at me, still perched safely on Tarron's shoulders. I open my mouth to say something, but Mariona pushes me back under.
"No, you're rotten at this game! Be gone!" She chides me with a flourish of her hand.
"Well, don't drown me!" I shout as I force myself back up and begin paddling on my back to get away from her. "Just because you're a sore loser."
"Sore loser indeed," Mariona rolls her eyes before cupping her hands around her mouth. "Seana, get over here!"
I glance over my shoulder back at the beach. Seana is still standing on the shore, hands clasped behind her back. Axellia stands next to her. Shaking her head and clicking her tongue at me. I make a face back to her as Seana shakes her head, taking a step backwards.
"No," she calls back. "No, I don't like water."
"Any water?" Feiya asks, setting her hands on top of Tarron's head for balance as he strokes her legs, smiling up at her as if she's the most valuable treasure to ever grace the universe. It's sickeningly sweet.
Seana nods in response to Feiya's question, taking a huge step back.
"How do you bathe?" Vivianna wonders out loud from where she's sitting on the sand, still soaked from her last round of playing.
"Viv!" Tarron scolds, Feiya bouncing slightly on his shoulders as he turns his head. She snatched hold of his ears with a Yelp to keep herself from falling.
"Oh, sorry, are you alright, Pretty?" Tarron asks as Feiya giggles and snorts with fun.
"I'm fine!"
"Well..." Seana ponders as the two love birds continue fretting over each other. "As long as it's not deep enough to go over my head it's bearable," she murmurs, twirling her hair around her finger.
"Oh," Vivianna nods.
"So no chance of you getting in here?" Mariona asks, arms crossed.
"Oh, let the girl be!" Tarron scolds.
"No," Seana emphatically replies.
"Fine," Mariona shrugs. "Axellia, get in here!"
"No, thank you, I don't think so," Axellia snaps with a nod of her head. "Getting shoved off someone's shoulder into murky ocean water does not sound like a fun time to me."
"Not much of a rough-houser, eh?" Mariona grumbles.
"No, not really," Axellia blushes.
"Yes, I keep forgetting you're the boring twin."
"Hey!"
"Oh, so I'm the fun twin?" I ask, a small surge of pride burning in my chest.
"For tonight," Mariona replies with a smirk.
"Hear, that, Axell-"
"Shut it, Cai!" Axellia pouts, turning her back to me as I reach shallow water.
"So what is it you normally do for fun?" Mariona asks, rolling her eyes.
"Read?" Axellia suggest.
"Ugh!" Mariona groans.
"Sew?"
"Next!"
"Play instruments?"
"Do you see an orchestra out here?"
