I sniffed the appetizing aroma coming from the pot as I wore the pot holders, ready to take it to the dining table. As soon as I did, I took off the kitchen mitts and fished my phone out of my pocket to take a picture of my specialty—kimchi stew.
I sent the picture to our group chat and composed a message.

I looked over my shoulder and saw my mother making her way towards the table. I obliged, putting my phone down the chair next to me as she took a seat at the head of the table.
"What do you think? It smells good, right?" I flashed a smug smile when she gave me a short nod. "Should I become a chef? I'll build my own restaurant and let you eat there for free anytime."
"You don't even know how to cook other dishes."
"Culinary schools exist for a reason, Mom."
