The Birthday Tradition

Chaeyoung

"Hey, it's okay. She's resting in peace now."

Yugyeom consoled me while I was crying in silence on the floor of Mingyu's living room. When he announced Bom's death, I couldn't help but cry as I rushed over here. Yugyeom was already here when we came, and we decided to bury her at their backyard.

"I know. I just regret not being with her until her last breath." I sighed, drying my wet cheeks. I looked up and saw Eunwoo coming back with a glass of water in his hand. He gave it to me before sitting on the sofa behind me, caressing my shoulder momentarily.

"Yah, I cried too. Where's mine?" I looked over at Mingyu who's sniffling while lying down on the other sofa. Minghao and Jaehyun were sitting on its armrests. Seokmin and Bambam are sitting across from me. Yugyeom is sitting on the sofa behind me with Eunwoo while Jungkook is sitting beside me.

Eunwoo silently stood up before walking back to the kitchen. None of us spoke even when he came back with another glass of water in his hand. I was recalling my memories with Bom when Mingyu broke the silence.

"A lot of things happened today..." He trailed off.

"Mom and Dad had a small fight.. Chaeyoung experienced that again.. Bom died.. Yugyeom got rejected.." He drawled, but what caught my attention the most was the last one.

"Yah!" Yugyeom threw a pillow at Mingyu who didn't have to dodge it because it flew over the sofa instead.

"If I were you, I wouldn't miss." Bambam sighed.

"Woah," Jungkook laughed. "Who rejected you? I didn't know you like someone. Why are you keeping secrets from us?"

"Some things are meant to be kept to myself, idiot." Yugyeom snarled.

"Yet you told me." Mingyu lazily spoke.

"Because I thought you weren't going to spill!"

"A member of the dance club did. Her name's Lisa." Bambam answered, earning a glare from Yugyeom but a look of confusion eventually replaced his glare.

"How the hell did you know?"

Bambam chuckled and shrugged casually. "Our members are talking about it."

Panic painted Yugyeom's face as he frustratedly ruffled his hair. "Shit, what if it spreads throughout the whole campus?"

"It will surely do. Gossips spread like wildfire, dude." Eunwoo chuckled, seeming to be enjoying Yugyeom's misery. Yugyeom groaned and glared at the air.

"Anyway, it shouldn't matter. I only asked her if she wants to have lunch with me and not if she wants to date me." He said, trying to convince himself.

"It's the same thing." Minghao said.

"No, it is not." Yugyeom directed his glare to the calm Minghao.

"But you want her to be your girlfriend, right?" I let out a chuckle when he rolled his eyes at me.

"She's Thai, by the way." Bambam interjected.
