{Miles Edgeworth X Detective!Reader}

 I had been working with Detective Gumshoe as his partner for a few years now- I had known him for a long time before that though- and most often we work with Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. Edgeworth was... well, He was Edgeworth. I knew Gumshoe was very fond of the man, no matter how much he lowered our pay; I was quite the opposite.

 Unlike Gumshoe- who thought everyone he arrested was guilty- I could tell when someone really hadn't done it, which really bothered me when they got the guilty verdict from the judge. It always made me so angry when Edgeworth made sure a guilty verdict was given to someone who definitely hadn't done it. However, I couldn't really do much about it. There were very few times I could convince Gumshoe that someone else had done it, he was just too gullible most times.

 I was brought out of my thoughts by Gumshoe pulling me out of my chair, and talking about an unintelligible call with the only understandable word being a whispered "Help". It was around 10:48PM when we arrived, I had jumped out of the car and ran inside, the front door wide open, I quietly rushed through the house hearing a noise from upstairs. I entered the upstairs room facing the front of the home to see a woman hung up on the ceiling fan, and a man writing a fake suicide note on a table.

 "Hold it!" I screamed, pointing my gun in the man's direction and his head shot towards me, along with his arms flying into the air. I guess he had heard Gumshoe running up the stairs because his next move was fleeing out the window. "Call backup! This motherfucker isn't getting away!" I yelled to the man, who had just barely entered the door as I jumped out the window.

 "[Y/N]!" Gumshoe's yell fell onto deaf ears as I chased the man off the roof and onto the ground.

The man weaved around the house into the back yard and jumped over the fence, but I followed suit. He ran through five more yards as I gave chase, until he took a sharp turn to the road, thinking I was much father behind than I was, and I tackled him.

 "What the fuck!" The man yelled, and I got a good look at his face, even though it was past 11PM at this point and dark. However, the man then tased me with a taser he had pulled from his pocket.

 After that the man got away. I had re-gained function a few minutes later, but only laid grass staring at the sky as the late November air nipped at my skin. My thoughts filled with the fact that I had let the man get away, I had him in my hands, I could've brought him in. I let him get away. It took about 30 minutes for Gumshoe to find me, he looked very worried and angry. Probably because I jumped out the window and he hasn't seen me for 40+ minutes. He picked me up and flung me over his shoulder as he walked into the car, then he put me into my seat and buckled me in. It was safe to say Gumshoe was upset.

 "Hey, Pal, I'm not upset with you. We just found two other kiddos in the house, and a gay married couple. Not that there's anything wrong with that!" Gumshoe said quickly, holding his hands up.

 "THE WHEEL!" I screeched, pointing at the wheel he had taken his hands off of.

 "Oh right!" Gumshoe said, quickly putting his hands back onto the wheel before continuing, "Anyway, there was a eight year-old girl in her room, she was found in a pool of blood with a single stab wound to the chest; the married couple were found on the couch cuddled up together; and a little boy was found alive but unconscious under the stairs, he was the one who called." Gumshoe informed me, and I felt sick.

 "Where's the boy?" I asked, worried for the kid.

 "Hospital. I would've gone with but I had to find you." He spoke, sighing.
