I was playing some sort of VR prototype of Half-Life, instead of Gordon Freeman I played as a scientist. Even though I had been playing a game, it felt much more like I was inside the game than not; at some point I had even forgotten it was a game. I had been exploring on my own with my gun and a vending machine soda as the only items I had.
"Hey." was heard inside my head, meaning my soulmate had been talking to me.
"Hey, how are you?" I replied, happy to hear his voice.
"I could be doing better, but it's good to know you're still here." He replied, his words both worrying me and bringing a smile to my face.
"I'll always be here for you." I told him, a small smile on my face.
"Thank you." Was the last thing I heard him say, before a gunshot rang through my ears, startling me. I hadn't even heard the group of people that now were at the end of the hall I was in.
"HEY, YOU OVER THERE!" A voice called out, presumably from the older man with glasses, my eyes widened. Are they gonna kill me?
"Hold- Hold on guys!" One of the men called out as two of his group ran at me, his voice very familiar.
I took a good look at him, and realized that he was Gordon Freeman. However this thought was cut short by a glock pointed directly at the center of my forehead by one of the scientists. By now Gordon and another scientist had caught up to the other two scientists and the security guard who had their guns, and fists, trained on me.
"Dr. Coomer, Bubby, put your guns down." Gordon told the two scientists, them both backing up, before he looked to me. "Who are you?" he asked.
"Oh uh- I'm [Y/N] [L/N], I don't mean any harm I swear-" I quickly spoke, scared by the fact that there were 3 people willing to kill me.
"Well, my name's Gordon Freeman, this is Tommy" he said, then pointed towards the scientist who hadn't run up to me earlier, "Dr. Coomer," Gordon pointed at the older man without glasses, "Bubby," the scientist who held a gun to my head after yelling at me, "and Benrey." he finally said, sounding bothered mentioning the security guard.
"It's nice to meet you all, especially since you're the only alive people I've seen- that weren't those bastard soldiers- since whatever that was." I said, a nervous smile on my face.
"Gordon I think Dr. [L/N] would be a very valuable asset to the team!" Dr. Coomer stated.
"Passport?" Benrey asked, suddenly in front of me.
"Passport?" I asked, "Why the hell do you need my passport?" Gordon stifled a laugh at my words. "Yeah, I get like security measures and all, but seriously there's no point still asking for ID when all hell has broken loose." I said with a shrug.
"THANK YOU!" Gordon shouted, startling me. "Oh sorry." He said, apologizing and setting his arm on my shoulder with a nervous laugh.
"It's okay." I smiled.
We then realized that the group had started to continue onwards, and we ran to catch up. I ended up in the back after a while of walking after Gordon ran up to Dr. Coomer to stop him from getting killed by a "rope".
"I just had the weirdest experience in my life."
"Oh?"
"I got held at gunpoint, and then asked for my PASSPORT." I told him, then saw Gordon freeze for a second. Did he hear me?
"Look Gordon ropes! We can use these- HELP ME GORDON!" Dr. Coomer yelled, causing Gordon to quickly direct his attention back to him.
"I got you Dr. Coomer!" He replied, shooting the barnacle with a sigh as Coomer fell back down again.
"Oh- um yeah, that's pretty weird."
"You sound bothered, what's up?"
"Nothing, nothing. Just, who the hell asks for your passport after holding you at gunpoint?"
I laughed at this.
"Actually, two people had me at gunpoint, while another looked as if he was ready to punch me into next Wednesday!" I told him with a laugh.
"Oh shit-" Gordon said, which caught my attention. He looked back at me, his face bright red, then turned around again.
"Well this is interesting, isn't it?"
"We will never hear the end of this, you realize that, right?"
"Haha, yeah." I said, then started slowly speeding up, "Turn around." I told him, then fully sprinted at him and jumped as he turned, catching me.
"You are a pain."
I laughed at his words as he shook his head at me, "You love me." I said, a smile on my face.
"You aren't wrong." Gordon Replied, a smile on his face.
"Get it, Gordon!" Dr. Coomer shouted, to which I broke into laughter.
