Sage was tugged back into the darkness of the castle hallway right as she was about to step out and take my arm. Frowning, I rushed back inside to see a very familiar face holding tightly onto her upper arm, sneering down at her small figure.
"Let go of me, Jay," She stated calmly, her green eyes narrowing into thin slits, turning from forest green to harsh frost in seconds.
"You really think I would do that? You were just about to escape. What kind of castle employee would I be if I let the Princess of The Craft Kingdom escape?" Jay said, another sneer forming on his now dark looking features. "I would call your friends back here too if you don't want them to get hurt."
"You're going to get hurt if you don't let go of her arm in about two seconds," I snapped, finally stepping forward to show myself in the dim lighting coming off a synthetic torch in one of the corners.
Jay's confidence fatlered for a second when I took another step forward to tower a few inches above him. Crinkling his features together, he released Sage's arm, making sure to shove her fragile body a few paces away. She hit my chest and I immediately caught her so she didn't fall, placing her behind my back and draping an arm across her waist to keep her there.
"What is your problem? I thought it was always you that was all for Sage being safe and happy," I snapped. "I thought you wanted her to get out of the castle and away from this arranged marriage thing."
"I did, and I do," Jay shrugged, before sneering, "but with me, not you. She doesn't need some cheesy boyband member that will just attract a ton of media attention. Not to mention you had a girlfriend before this that will interfeer with everything."
"I'll keep her safe from the media," I growled. "And Danielle can't do shit to us."
"Nah, the media may not be able to say anything, or Danielle, but you don't know what I could do," Jay smirked. Then, without another word, he turned on his heel, and yelled down the hallway, "Guards! Guards! We have some unwanted guests kidnapping Princess Sage!"
There was an uproar of yelling echoing down the stone hallway, followed by the pitter patter of heavy footsteps.
"Shit," I muttered, turning around. "C'mon Sage, we gotta go!" Not wasting any time, I swiftly picked her up into my arms and took off at a sprint out of the still open castle door and toward the car we had brought.
Louis was already perched in the drivers seat of the van, motioning wildly too me. I picked up my pace, darting into the open back door that Niall had gratefully pushed open. I placed Sage safely down beside me, before motioning Louis to take off.
He didn't need anymore encouraging to do so as the van sped off, leaving a trail of white gravel behind it as we sped from the tiny parking lot and out the convientantly open gates. "To the airport we go!" he cried in a singsong voice, eyeing us in the backseat. "Welcome to the crazy life that is the one of One Direction. We enjoy you're company."
Sage gave a half hearted smile, staying close to my side as her tiny hand wrapped around my upper arm, letting the other one rest on my stomach. "Thanks," She murmured, leaning her head hesitantly on my shoulder.
I kissed the top of her head softly, not caring that they boys where all staring at me. I wanted to reassure her that she was safe with us, and that I wouldn't allow anyone to hurt, or take her away anymore.
"Paul is going to kill us when we get back," Harry commented to fill the silence. "We didn't even get consent. We took a private jet paid for with our own money."
"Hell, Paul is going to kill us, management is going to kill us. Everyone is just going to kill us!" Zayn sighed, running a hand through his tossled dark hair that he hadn't bothered to style today.
"But it was worth sneaking out and going though," I murmured loud enough for them to hear me as I pulled Sage closer to me again. Sage rested her chin on my shoulder to gaze up at me with a bashful look, her pale cheeks tinted a hot pink color as she turned quickly to hide her face again.
"I enjoy how your island is so small," Louis commented to Sage as we pulled into one of the private airport parking lots. It was the one that the royals usually used, according to the people on the inside of the place that helped us with directions. And apperently it was the airport that Sage had taken months ago to come and get me from my apartment.
Sage smiled polietly. "Yeah it's just a little unknown island with a lot of power that it doesn't need."
The van was parked, and we all piled out of the van as fast as we could, heading in the general direction of where we had left the private jet, all our bags and things we needed still on the inside along with the pilot.
The steps were still out, so one after another we jogged up them as fast as we could, piling into the jet and taking seats quickly around the inside of the tiny area. I plopped myself down on one of the long couches that lined both sides, motioning for Sage to sit down beside me.
"Time for sleep," Niall declared loudly, placing himself down across from us and closing his eyes tightly. The others seemed to agree as they stretched out in their own chairs.
Smiling softly down at Sage, I pulled her close to me. She laid her head on my chest, letting her eyes flutter shut. "Go to sleep darling. I'll see you in a few hours." With that I kissed the top of her head, and then smiled at the sound of her gentle breathing as the plane lifted off into the air.
~
"Welcome to my humble abode, where you will be staying for about three days until Liam can get Danielle to move from his flat!" Louis annouced, taking a deep breath at the end of his huge sentence.
I chuckled as I motioned Sage inside. She nervously took a few steps inside. "Oh, I don't want to intrude."
"You're not intruding love," We both looked up at the new voice. Eleanor was making her way out of the hallway with a bright smile. "We can take you out shopping tomorrow so that we can get you a ton of new clothes. And for tonight and tomorrow, you can wear some of mine. We look about the same size."
Sage offered a shy smile, letting go of my arm and taking a few steps forward to begin talking with Eleanor. I smiled at Louis, mouthing a quick thanks, before I turned back to face Sage. "Hey," I said quickly. "I think I'm gonna leave. Will you be okay?"
She turned, smiling shyly at me as she took a few strides to meet me. "I'll be fine. Thank you Liam. For everything."
"No problem, love," I said, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her closer to me. Then, hesitantly, I leaned down, getting inches away from her lips. I heard her sharply inhale as I cut the rest of the distance, pressing my lips to hers briefly. The same spark as earlier flooded through my body, warming my head to my toes. It was a small kiss, only taking a few seconds as I pulled away, smiling softly at her. "Bye."
I gave her one final hug, before waving at Eleanor and Louis and stalking out of the door out toward my car.
Time to face Danielle.
And this wouldn't be pretty.
