I was sleeping peacefully with Danielle wrapped tightly in my arms like a small, curly headed teddy bear. A smile crept onto my lips at the nice dream I was having, a tiny snore fluttering from my insides.
A loud bang coming from the front room broke me from the peaceful dreamland. My eyes snapped open, my head involuntary swiveling to look past the door frame to the kitchen. No one was there, or close to there in my line of site, but yet, the door was flung wide open, the dark outsides shining into the inside, a small pool of light by the entrance raidiating from the moon and stars.
Cautiously, I set Danielle down on some of the pillows, making sure she didn't wake, before I crept around the side of the couch, making sure to snatch a hanging umbrella off the nearby coat rack. Rising it over my head, I crouched low, stepping slowly into the kitchen.
I peered slowly over the island in the middle, seeing nothing but the dark shadow that casted off of the objects all around the kitchen. I watched for movement, my eyes flicking back and forth nervously as I slowly made my way to the door.
Reluctantly lowering my only weapon, I stretched out my arm, lightly letting my fingers lay over the gold metal of the doorknob, only enough for me too push it closed with a light click! Gulping, I went back to slinking along the walls of the kitchen, snatching a knife instead this time, letting the umbrella clatter to the floor.
When I turned around, however, to head through the doorframe, there was a large, dark, ominous figure standing there. He was dressed in very formal apparel, although it looked ancient, and not modern at all. He was holding a long piece of parchment looking paper. His eyes raised slowly from it, and he peered at me from under the one spectacle he had resting on his cheek bone.
"Are you Mr. Payne?"
I gulped, gaining some confidence as I contuined to speak."Uhm, yes that's me. Liam. Why are you here at my house at three o'clock in the morning? More importantly, how did you manage to open a locked door?"
"We are from the Craft Kingdom," The man stated blankly, his expression impasive.
"Wait we?"
That's when about five pairs of arms clasped around my arms.
"Yes," The man cleared his throat, a sinister smirk forming. "We."

I awoke with a start, blinking eyes slowly and trying to stretch, but realizing I had my arms wrapped tightly around something.
Or rather someone.
Oh yeah, Dani.
I tightened my grip on her, freezing for a moment and holding my breath in hopes I hadn't woke her up yet. After all, judging by the large, glowing red numbers from the clock in the corner it was only around eight o'clock in the morning. Not a good time for an off day.
My hopes fell as I felt Danielle stir under my grip again, and she twisted her head to gaze up at me with curious and tired eyes. "Why are you awake so early?" She drawled, scooting off my lap and raising her hands over her head in a luxiorious stretch.
"Weird dream," I replied, scrunching my eyes together and popping them back open, supressing a loud and unneeded yawn. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." I leaned over and placed a light kiss on her forehead, grinning softly. "You can go back to sleep if you want."
"No, no, I'm awake now. Not your fault," She insisted, blinking her eyes tiredly and stretching out one more time. She slowly rose from the couch, steadying herself on the side, before asking me, "Want me to make you some tea?"
