I hopped around, startled, almost tripping over the back of my baggy sweatpants and falling straight on my butt. Hastily, I ripped my earbuds out of my ears, and chucked my iPod onto my bed, turning around to glare at Liam, who was still standing, amused, at the doorframe.

"What the hell do you think you are doing in here?" I snapped, taking a threatening step toward him, which, much to my amusement, wipped the smirk right off his face. "You could have knocked, or texted me or something."

"Not like you would have heard me with all that singing and dancing you were doing there," Liam snickered, that cheeky grin returning to his features. Which I guess was better than his depressed and "I want to die' look earlier. Still, I wanted to kill him.

"I thought Harry was the funny one of the group," I hissed, taking another step closer, making my gaze extra menacing. "Or should I say annoying. You take up that role quiet nicely."

I saw a small flash of hurt spark in his warm brown eyes, and his lips curled down into a frown. But it was only for a nanosecond, and the average person wouldn't have noticed it, I was just paying close attention. Soon, a fake looking smile made it's way back onto his face, and he poked his tongue out. "Actually, it was Louis that was the funny one, and Harry was just flirty. But nice try. I thought I was rather comical."

"Oops, well then, if that's the case, you can take up the annoying role," I said, sticking out my own tongue at him. Silently, I prayed under my breath that my mom, dad, or Jay wouldn't come in. It was 'very unlady like' for any girl in the kingdom to stick out there tongue, show the middle finger, or anything similar. I had the habit of doing it behind my parents backs, but of course they still managed to catch me every once and a while. And they had put Jay on my case to make sure I didn't do it.

Although I didn't understand why it was that big of a deal.

But of course I didn't understand half the things my wonderful kingdom came up with, so it wasn't much different that anything else.

"You're very funny you know. I think I would be classified as the handsome one in the group," Liam mused, looking over my shoulder. "Or maybe the smart one. Or the sensible one. Or the best one."

"Well, it doesn't really matter now," I said, the words flowing out of my mouth before I could bite them back. They sounded okay in my head, but out in the open they sounded incredibly cruel and inconsiderate of Liam's feelings. After all it had only been a handful of hours since he had left that old life. Maybe I should just not talk.

Liam's gaze didn't drop mine, however. He held it steady, and said in a strong voice, "No, you're right, I guess it doesn't matter any longer, since I most likely won't ever speak to them again."

"I-I'm sorry, I-I forgot, oh my gosh I'm sorry," I rambeled loudly, taking a step back and shaking my head. "I really didn't mean it like that, I'm so sorry oh my gosh."

"Sage, calm down, it's okay, I don't take to many things to heart," Liam said, giving me a reassuring smile, although his lips were drawn back into a thin line, and his jaw still appeared to be clenched tightly. "I know you forgot. It's alright, shush."

I stopped rambling, and stood there to simply look at him. Now he dropped his gaze to the ground, shuffling a little bit inside and shutting the door behind him. He dug the toe of his shoe down into the flooring, and let out a sigh, his shoulders shaking.

"So," I started, trying to fill the silence that had fallen over the room. "What brought you down the hall to talk to boring old me?" I flopped back onto my bed, spreading out my hands high above my head to reach and grab my iPod that I had thrown across in my haste.
