Kotaro was extremely close. For the past few days she's been here, Kotaro has been acting more... closer to her. Y/N knew what he was doing, she wasn't oblivious, Kotaro was fully flirting with her. He would constantly make flirtatious jokes about if she were to be with him and if they were married. It didn't make Y/N feel weird in any way, but she did feel flattered that someone thought of her worthy to be with someone. But, that someone she thought of being with was not Kotaro, it was Sukuna. Every time Kotaro would pop a joke, Y/N would try her absolute best not to make him feel awkward. Y/N would smile and joke alone with him, which may be a terrible decision. Kotaro would take Y/N's flirtatious remarks as a sign to keep going, there was no end to it, she didn't want him to be heartbroken because of her.

Curses were made out of the masses of negative emotion in humans, after Y/N was aware of this, she made sure Kotaro was not affected in any way. No matter what Y/N did, she couldn't tell Kotaro off, she couldn't tell him that she didn't feel the same way as him, but she knew that it would come soon. But the sooner he knows, the better and easier he would let her go. Kotaro would be safe if he never messed with her. He's bound to meet someone else, she was not the girl for him, and he was not the man for her.

Kotaro's arms would be around Y/N's shoulder most of the time, for the first few times he did this, they received many questionable stares until they finally died down. The higher ups were still cautious about Y/N, but if Kotaro was the one watching her, they had no problem. Kotaro was strong, Y/N knew that when she saw him training at one point. He beat all the other jujutsu sorcerers that wanted to challenge, he had so much power, but she knew most of it was locked and still needed to be explored.

Y/N was allowed to go outside of the camp, but under the supervision of Kotaro. Trees surrounded them, and the leaves blew. The scenario was calming. Kotaro kept looking back at Y/N, she noticed, but didn't say anything about his suspicious behaviour. She knew he wanted to say many things, but she couldn't allow him, it would ruin their relationship. "Y/N," Kotaro quietly said. Y/N thought that this was it, this was the part that he was going to say something. "why do you have Sukuna's cursed energy?" A question that she did not expect for him to ask. Y/N thought, there was no answer she could give to him.

"What do you expect my answer to be?" Y/N wanted to know what he was thinking. "I honestly don't know." Kotaro scratched the back of his head unsure about Y/N's answer. "Sukuna was someone I've known before you. Someone who took me, used me, but..." Y/N silenced herself. Kotaro wasn't pleased with the cut off. He wanted to know the rest of her sentence, he wanted to know her answer. "But?" Kotaro pressed in, but Y/N looked concentrated, she was thinking, thinking of the right wording to give to the man next to her. Kotaro thought that Y/N would be upset, terrified, traumatised at Sukuna, but she didn't give off that atmosphere. It was different from what he expected. What were her next words?

"Kotaro, do not wrong me, but there's something there between us. Between Sukuna and I." Kotaro was extremely surprised, but he didn't feel good. Kotaro thought that he was jumping through conclusions. He was thinking that she was in love with him, a cursed spirit that is only entertained by the anguish and pain from others. Kotaro rapidly shook his head. "What do you mean? I simply do not understand your words." Y/N stopped walking and looked straight at his face. "What is there to not understand?" Kotaro grabbed Y/N's shoulder and pulled her closer to him. "Y/N, Sukuna is a monster that has to be rid off. There is nothing between the two of you and there never was anything to begin with. You're delusional!" Kotaro's voice started to rise, but Y/N just watched him.

Kotaro suddenly let her go and dramatically circled the space in front of her. "Is this why you're willing to leave me? Because of that vile curse?" A chuckle escaped from his mouth. "You have people in front of you that are willing to protect you from the likes of him. Open your eyes." A deep sigh came out of Y/N's lips. "I'm sorry Kotaro, but I cannot allow you to go against him. I'm doing this for the sake of your life, and for the sake of mine." Kotaro mumbled, but Y/N couldn't hear what he just said. "Bullshit." His voice came out stronger. "I'm not the one who needs saving, it's you!"
