■ 10: be careful ■

───── No One's POV ─────

"Kai-opp-- ahem, Kai. Where do you want to go to talk about the project?"

It was the end of class, and Kai and Yuna were deciding where they should plan their research. And of course, Yuna had to control herself from fangirling to much since she was partnered with her forbidden crush.

"Anywhere's fine with me" he casually replied while checking something on his phone.

"Uhm, okay. How about the café nearby?"

"Okay, let's go". Both of them walked out of the campus together, but awkwardness circulated around them. To distract herself, Yuna put on her earphones and played some music, while Kai silently watched her and listened to her humming to some songs.

Kai fondly watched Yuna loosen up a bit as she swayed to music he couldn't hear. He could see her inner child coming out. They came across a pedestrian lane they have to cross. Kai stayed behind as he smiles at Yuna hopping only to the painted lines like any kid would.

However, his smile fades as he noticed a truck speeding towards her, and she doesn't realize it.

"Yuna!" he calls, but she doesn't hear. 'Aish. Is her music that loud?'

Yuna got shocked when her peaceful song-listening session climaxed to being pushed to the ground. However, she could tell that she didn't exactly land on concrete. One by one, she processed what was happening.

First, she looked front and saw a truck passing by, realizing she could've been hit if someone didn't push her. Second, she could feel a pair of arms wrapped around her. She removed her earphones and turned her head to see Kai beneath her. Her eyes widened and quickly sat up, especially after hearing him groan. 

"Kai, a-are you o-okay?"

"Ah..." Kai groaned while rubbing his right arm as he sits up with Yuna's help.

"Y-you must have h-hurt your arm from the f-fall. Uhm... let's sit on the bench over there". She helped him stand up and walk. She's still shaken up by the events, but she's trying not to show it to someone who hurt himself to save her.

Kai just remained silent as he doesn't know how to feel. He's frustrated that he got hurt, but also relieved that Yuna is safe. The first thing that happened when they sat down is a moment of silence, both thinking of what to say.

"Are you okay?" Kai broke it first, and that was when Yuna broke into tears.

"Hey, hey. Where does it hurt?"

"I should be the one asking you that". Yuna wiped her tears and tried to compose herself. "I'm sorry. You got hurt because of me. If only I was more careful, and if only I didn't have my earphones on, this wouldn't have happened".

Kai didn't know what to say since he slightly agrees to what Yuna said, but he didn't like how she blamed everything to herself.

"Can we postpone our project on another day? I wanna go home" Yuna said when there was no response from the guy. 'I don't know how to face you now'

"Yes, of course. You should take a rest". They stood up, and Yuna started walking to her direction. She could feel someone tailing her, and she already knows who it is. She turned around to face him.

"Uhm... I live in Cherry street. Isn't Crystal street that way?" she asked while pointing to the other direction.

"I know"

"Then why are you following me?"

"I'm escorting you". He ruffled Yuna's hair, which made her frozen at her spot, then walked ahead of her. Snapping out of her thoughts, she tried to catch up to Kai. Wanting to ease the tension, he ran further which led them to playing tag like little kids.

"Yah! Kai! Doesn't you arm hurt???"

They definitely got closer and more comfortable with each other that day. They talked, played, and made fun of each other as if they were childhood friends. All of that happened before reaching Yuna's house.

If you ask her, this moment to be this close to her crush is a dream come true.
