Natsu's POV:
Life has been peaceful and filled with so much warmth. The battle with Zeref, then Acnologia, then the hundred-year quest seems so far away. All the pain and the struggles we went through seem like a distant memory. The guildhall was rowdy as usual, and then I remembered something.
-FLASHBACK-
"Lucy, I have to tell you something."
"Yeah? What is it?"
"Nevermind. I'll tell you after this job." I replied and rushed her out of her house towards the rest of the team.
-END OF FLASHBACK-
Man, after beating and fighting people, I couldn't tell her how I felt. Without her support and calling out for me, I wouldn't be here today. Yet I can't bring myself to tell her.
"Natsu?" Lucy nudged me.
"Hmm?"
"You okay? You seem more quiet than usual."
"No, it's fine. I just remembered I have to do something."
"Oh, okay." She smiled, and my heart jumped. Lucy released a new book recently, and it was a huge success. She seems so happy, and it makes me so warm inside than any fire could.
"Wanna go on a job?"
She looked puzzled and thought about for a moment, "Sure. I could use a break from writing."
We looked at the board and saw a few jobs, and Lucy picked up a job wide-eyed.
"What's wrong? What is it?"
"No. This can't be!"
"Lucy."
"Sorry, um, I have to take this job alone. I have some business to work out with Duke Sawarr Junelle." She clenched the paper tightly.
"Calm down. It'll be okay. Let me come with you at least." I put my hand on her shoulder, and she began to relax.
She sighed deeply with anger in her eyes that Is never seen before, "Fine, and he could use a beating."
"The job is to help a village that was once going to be a part of the Great Heartfilla-Junelle lands, but Sawarr had refused any resources and outside help because of the fall of the Heartfilla family. So we have to convince him and help them. However, it's not just them. There are many little villages on the estates land that is in the same situation."
"So, let go convince him." I punched my fist into my hand.
"Yeah, I'm gonna need a moment. I'll be home packing if you need me." She looked down, and I saw tears build up in her eyes.
I grabbed her hand and rushed her to her house.
She sat down at her desk and stared at the photo of her parents.
"I know I made the right choice." She sniffled fell to her knees.
I caught her and hugged her, "You did. There's nothing to cry about. We both know we never regret anything from when we first met till now. We got this. Okay?"
"Yeah, okay." She smiled, and I wiped the tears from her eyes.
"I'm looking forward to beating his ass," I smirked
"Hopefully, it won't come to that." She chuckled, and I helped her up then walked her to bed.
"Get some rest. I'll tell Happy and Master about the job."
