Aria ripped off a long piece of cloth from her cloak and wrapped it firmly around her biggest wound, the cut on her arm. Gritting her teeth, she set the wound with a little bit of iodine that she was smart enough to bring and, under the makeshift bandage, stuffed some well-chewed grass to relieve the pain at least a little bit, that she could still fight.

If it got infected, there was nothing she could do.

Not bothering to waste any supplies on the smaller cuts littered on her body, Aria flipped the hood back onto her head and cast one last look at the field, the once peaceful, lush grass now splattered with blood.

Such was the curse of Hyrule, huh? Forever torn apart, forever bloodstained.

Aria turned away and felt the sunshine leave her skin as she plunged back into the Lost Woods.

The mist parted unwillingly, and whispers started echoing out of the depths, trying to lead her astray, to distract her. She shook her head irritably, brows furrowed, a trickle of sweat tracing down her face.

Then it was over, a heartbeat and an eternity later. Aria found herself in the sunlight again, utterly drained. She tugged back her fading resolve and looked around.

Yet again, it was a huge, triangular field, with the same pedestal resting in the center. Only, instead of grayish stone, this time it was made of marble streaked with black.

Aria ran towards it, impatient to get it over with, and ran a hand over the carving.

The virtues of strength you have just caught,

Yet in this trial, it will be all for naught.

And now, here, intelligence takes the throne,

Untangle yourself and find your way home.

If you should lose yourself in the everlasting web,

Failure pounces and your tide will ebb.

And then suddenly it began to fade, and Aria turned around, aghast, as walls pushed up to the surface, growing out of the soil as though they were living things, breathing. Multiple exits led out of the center of what appeared to be a maze, each one following its own, convoluted path.

Aria dimly regretted not bringing a compass.

     How to do this?

This trial was a test of wisdom. What was the wisdom in randomly selecting a path and gradually branching out from the center, getting more and more hopelessly tangled? Or was this how they wanted her to think?

The Triforce of Wisdom. What was so special about the Triforce of Wisdom.

     Powers of light.

Aria's eyes flew open. That was it.

     Follow the light.

Her eyes flicked up to the sun, slanted slightly in the sky, pointing almost directly at one of the exits.

Ha! Aria rushed to that exit, hardly believing that she had passed this first test.

Of course, worse was yet to come.

Suddenly she found herself standing in an empty, wall-less field, with nothing but lazily waving grass, stretching out in all directions.

She looked around, the beginnings of fear starting to uncurl in her chest. Where was she? Was this even real?
