Lies or Truth

One problem with not being able to read minds is that I don't know if what my sister says is a lie, or if it's something she truly believes.

After she was arrested, we received a letter from probation, saying they wanted to talk. The question they wanted answered was if my sister and my mom wanted to pursue the issue of weather she had lied, or not, in court. When probation asked her to make her choice, she broke down, and ran to the bathroom, locking herself in a stall.

Almost an hour later, she was out of the stall, but still in the bathroom. Some officers were asking her where she would go when she left. She told them she wouldn't leave, wouldn't go home. They asked why, and she told them that our stepdad had made more sexual advances.

Before I go on, I would like to say that I haven't been sleeping. The slightest change in noise makes me wake up. I can't fall asleep. And my room is right next to hers. There is no way that she could be telling the truth. In addition to me, my mom sleeps in the same bed as my stepdad, and she doesn't truly sleep. We would know if anything happened.

When she still refused to even leave the bathroom, the officers stuck her in handcuffs, and walked her out. They took her to the closest ER so she could get evaluated for inpatient.

She had managed to avoid deciding if she wanted to pursue her innocence in court.

She had said something the night before the meeting with probation that struck me. She said that even if we believed the things she had told the officers were not true, she believed they were. My mom told her there was medical evidence that showed what she said wasn't what had happened. Still my sister said she believed what she had told people.

I wish I could tell if she was lying when she said that. I wish I knew if she truly believed those things had happened.

She could just be playing all of us, making us believe her, and her lies. Feeding us more lies to try to make us happy. Or to keep us from questioning her.

There is a question that is always there, with everything she says. The question is this: Is it truth or is it a lie?

I fear I will never know when she lies, or when she tells the truth.

Sorry it's been so long, and this is so short... I've been roleplaying on the forums of Figment. I keep getting distracted by them!

As always, comment, tell me what you think, and if there's any spelling/grammar errors.

Thanks for reading!
