Today Baylor is working a double shift at the hospital; the first half in the COVID ward and the second half in the emergency room. The COVID patients at the hospital have been overloading everything. There is a shortage of beds and equipment.
I finished giving Birdie her medicine as Baylor finished packing his bag for work. He goes into work wearing a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt and changes into his uniform there. When he comes home, he put his clothes in the garage so they're nowhere near Birdie. He went over to Birdie and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Have a great day with mommy ok?" He said and she smiled. He then walked over to me and gave me a long kiss on the lips. "Stay safe," I whispered. "I will." He kissed me again before going to the door.
"Bye daddy!" Birdie waved and he waved back before leaving. I fixed Birdie some scrambled eggs, turkey sausage links, and French toast sticks before sitting down with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage links. Birdie watched PBS Kids on her iPad as we ate in silence.
I finished getting ready as Birdie napped. I was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. I put my hair up in a ponytail and walked towards the kitchen. I fixed myself some water before drinking from it. I went into the garage to grab me and Baylor's work clothes to wash them. I added washing detergent and laundry sanitizer before closing it to start the cycle.
I walked back into the house and smiled when I saw Birdie standing in the hallway. "Hi baby," I cooed. "How was your nap?" She shuffled over and I felt her little arms wrap around my leg. I picked her up and kissed her cheek before taking her into her room to change out of her pajamas.
