Elves and Demigods

Chapter 17 - Jason

"Hearth!" Magnus yelled, running towards the blood covered person. "What happened?"

Hearth looked unbothered. Confused, even. Then he looked at his stained shirt and cracked a smile. The other guy with him laughed. 

"Calm- hah- down Magnus!" He said.

"What do you mean Blitz?" Magnus asked.

Blitz continued laughing before he managed. "That- that is-"

"That is what? What's so funny?"

"Red grape juice! Hahahaha!" 

Hearth was trembling like he was going to explode. 

Everyone else just stood for a while, staring. 

"Wow", Magnus commented.

"Haha", Blitz's eyes were watering now. "It wasn't even- hah- meant to be a prank hahaha- Your face!"

"Shut up, Blitzen".

Once he was done laughing the crap out of himself, he took a deep breath, looked at Magnus and laughed again.

"Seriously, stop it", Magnus complained.

"Okay- okay", Another deep breath, he pointed at the elves and demigods. "Who are they?" 

Magnus gestured at the demigods. "Piper, Jason and Will. Greek demigods, friends of my cousin Annabeth, also a Greek demigod".

Hearth frowned and made some gestures with his hand. 

"Yeah, I know", Magnus said.

"What?" Jason asked.

"Hearth communicates through sign language. He just said 'because the world isn't weird enough'".

Piper snorted.

"And they", Magnus points at the Elves. "Are Fitz, Dex and Marella. They're elves".

"They don't look like them", Blitz pointed. 

"Different elves", Magnus quickly explains why the 'different elves' are different. He then told the elves that Hearth was a 'norse elf' and they looked surprises at how different they were.

Hearth makes a series a gestures and Magnus translates them. "I wonder how many other elf species are there".

"Hopefully just two", Fitz said. "Because the world is messed up as it is". 

"So..." Blitz started. "You guys are trying to get all the help you can?"

"Yes Blitz", Magnus said. "Loki may come back. And some other Greek baddies along with them. Then there's this Neverseen group". 

Hearth makes some more gestures. 

"That's right", Blitz said. "Magnus, and elves and demigods and other people, we have some bad news too".

"Just add it to the list", Jason thought. 

"Hearth found a rune yesterday... One that Odin doesn't know of himself".

Magnus frowned. "How is that even possible? Maybe it isn't a rune?"

"It is. Odin confirmed it himself. It's a new, mysterious rune that has never before been seen in norse history. And I don't think it's a coincidence that it was found around the time the world of the elves and demigods met. Show them, Hearth".

Hearth fished out something that looked like a coin made of stone from a small sack he held. It noticably had a faint golden glow to it. Hearth handed it to Magnus.  

"It does seem like a rune", Magnus said. "But what do the horse and eagle mean?"

Jason gasped. "Horse and eagle?"

"Do you know what that means?" 

"Can I see it?" 

Magnus gave Jason the coin. Upon examination, Jason saw that what he feared was true. On one side was the image of a horse with wings. A pegasus. On the other was a eagle. Jason almost missed the tiny letters on the coins. The words CHB on the pegasus side and SPQR on the other. 

"Guys", Jason said to Piper and Will specifically. "You have to see this". 

They grouped around him widened their eyes when they saw the coin. So did Fitz, who only seemed to recognize the pegasus symbol.

"Is that..?" Piper started.

"The symbols of Camp Half-blood and Camp Jupiter".

As soon as the words slipped his mouth the coin glowed brighter the pegasus side turned orange and the eagle glowed purple.

"Uh", Fitz said. "Is this normal?"

Before anyone could answer that question, the light covered everything. For a while the only things visible was the orange and purple light, like a mix between dusk and night. Then the light faded away and Jason landed hard on his head. 

He had to blink a few times to bring his vision into focus. He was in a cubical room that wasn't very big and other than a door on a corner, had nothing. He saw that there were three other people with him. For some reason, it took him some time to recognize them as Piper, Will and... Who was the other boy again?... Right, Fitz. The elf. 

The door opened and two women came in. One of them had dark hair tried up into a bun with a weird headgear and really strange pointy ears. The other also had her hair in a bun that was rather intricate. When they saw the demigods and Fitz, the second woman smiled sweetly.

"Looks like our guests have arrived, Vespera", she said.

"Indeed they have, Gisela", Vespera said. "Indeed they have".
