This is a short SoKeefe chapter, enjoy!

"Keefe? Are you awake?" came a voice.

Keefe flicked his eyes open. "Foster?"

"Why are you calling me that?"

Keefe blinked his eyes to drive the sleep out of them. "I- honestly, I have no idea". He tried getting up but some place in his shoulder hurt too much for that.

A thin hand grabbed his. "Let me help", Sophie said.

I widened my eyes at her next to my bed. "You're standing!"

She laughed. "I don't remember much, but I believe I'm supposed to be able to do stand upright on two feet. Now sit up, I'll push you a little".

When her hands slipped behind my back, I ignored the sudden heat that lingered on my face and the emotions coming from her, and pushed against my elbows. Sophie gave me a boost and with a groan, I sat up.

"Here" Sophie re-adjusted my pillow so that I could lean against it. "I didn't know you were hurt this bad".

"Neither did I, actually", Keefe admitted.

"The doctor boy- Kai- told me I could move now and that my knee- which apparently, was broken, had healed".

As she spoke, Keefe took in the sight of the girl- he golden blond hair, beautiful brown eyes, innocent face, yellow tunic and gray cloak. She was dressed in very simple clothes, yet her timid beauty stood out. He also noticed how sometimes, she would tug on her eyelashes. Keefe once caught her found that in her sleep.

Sophie snapped her fingers in front of Keefe's face. "Keefe? Did you zone out?"

He quickly shook his head. "Sorry. Just a little sleepy. What were you saying?"

"About you calling me Foster".

He scrunched up his eyebrows. "I- I think that's your surname. I don't know how I knew that, I just did". He left out the part where, when he called her Foster last night, he felt like firecrackers were bursting inside him. Like... Like he knew this girl well. Very well. He sensed a very strong emotion in him which he kept denying again and again.

Sophie beamed. "That's great!"

"It... It is?"

"Of course! That means we may retrieve our memories in time! It could be slow, but it's better than having amnesia forever".

Keefe pondered on that. What if he got his memories back? It would be a good thing, of course, but what if Keefe didn't like himself? What if he was a bad person. He had no doubt Sophie was an angel with or without her memories, but he couldn't say the same for himself. He was seemingly the only person who could sense other's feelings, what if that was a bad thing?

Just when he thought that, he felt worry coming from Sophie.

"Keefe you keep zoning out. Is something wrong?" she asked, her voice matching her emotions.

"No, no. I'm just... Glad".

She walked back to her bed and plopped down on it. "Do you think I may not be a good person?"

Keefe blinked at her. Then he laughed. He laughed because of the absurdity of what she just said, and stopped only when his shoulder hurt from the movement.

"What's so funny?" Sophie asked. Her cheeks were flushed.

"It's just that- I can't imagine you being anything but sweet and innocent".

Her face remained pink but her emotions weren't embarrassment anymore.

"Thanks", was all she said.

"If either of us is going to be the bad one, it will obviously be me".

Sophie raised an eyebrow. "Why do you say that?"

Keefe wondered if he should tell Sophie. What if she would hate him? But he did it anyways. "Ever since I woke up yesterday, I've been feeling this weird power in me. This next part may sound unbelievable, but I can sense people's emotions".

Surprizingly, the only feeling Keefe detected from Sophie was curiosity. "That's strange. I've been feeling something too. Only, I can read people's minds".

Keefe was sure his face just turned fifty shades red. "Have you been reading my mind this entire time?"

Sophie shook her head. "That's a little intrusive, don't you think? I pretend to build an imaginary wall around my mind to block out your thoughts".

Keefe held back a relieved sigh.

"So, can you read my emotions now?"

"Yeah. Your's is stronger than most people's though, I don't know why. It feels like I'm being hit by strong waves".

Sophie widened her eyes and scooted a little away from me. "I'm sorry, does it hurt?"

Keefe smirked and pretended to clutch his stomach in pain. "Oh no, Foster. Your extreme love and admiration for me is going to kill me!"

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Judging from your nonsense, you're perfectly fine".

Just then, the door slammed open and Kai stormed in. "The Oracle has found a cure to your amnesia".
