"Hi!" She smiled wide and leaned in to hug each of us

"H-hi" I stuttered

"Nice to meet you" Tae smiled wide as we guided her to a booth to sit down. We had salads, soups, and put a pizza in the oven for us to eat

"Nice meeting you guys too! I'm so excited!" She clapped and cheered before taking a sip of her soda "Thank you guys"

"Thank us?" Tae jokingly scoffed "we're the ones that need to thank you"

She waved her hand "no problem at all"

There's certain things that I subconsciously let Tae take the lead on. Meeting the woman that was officially deemed pregnant with our child was one of those instances. I felt awkward. Too happy, too thankful, too grateful, too nervous, too nauseous. I couldn't focus. What am I supposed to say to her? I can't put into words how thankful I am that she chose us, she's lending us her body, and allowing us to mess up her entire life so that we can have a baby. She's easily the most selfless person I've ever met for offering to do this.

"So what made you want to be a surrogate?" Tae asked as we all began eating

She swallowed her food before answering "my mom has fertility issues, I'm adopted. And I watched everything they went through to try and have a baby through IVF and surrogacy, but they never had luck, and hardly had the money to keep trying. So, when I hit eighteen, I vowed to myself that as soon as I could I would sign up for a surrogacy agency, and help anyone I could. Thats why listed in my file I put down that I didn't want to be monetarily compensated, just whatever medical costs my insurance company doesn't cover"

"Our offer that you accepted had a monetary amount listed though" Tae said sounding confused, I nodded and furrowed my brows

"It did" she nodded with a smile "and I accepted. But, I know who the both of you are. I know that this isn't a money thing for you guys. I don't feel bad for accepting the money. Especially because once I receive the money, I'll be donating it back to the agency. They use the donations to help families who can't completely afford a surrogate. I figured, why not help out other people while helping the both of you?"

"What about your parents?" I asked softly, trying not to insult her or sound ungrateful

"They're not struggling for cash. They live comfortably now, and I'm on my own and thriving so really it's no loss. My parents also know what I'm doing and support me fully" she smiled wide

"Jesus christ you're like a saint" my jaw dropped, Tae laughed at me and she covered her face as she giggled

"No" she shook her head "far from it honestly. But, I try. I like to think I'm a good person, and I'm trying to help as many people as I can"

"I'm so happy we found you" Tae smiled fondly at her, she blushed and waved him off

"Oh! By the way" She rummaged through her purse and pulled out a greeting card "here" she held it out in her hand, Tae took it and opened it

"Congratulations" was on the front with pink and blue balloons, he opened it and we both automatically gasped. We had gotten the call three weeks ago, that the egg had attached to her uterine wall, that our sperm had worked properly, and her body was doing what it was supposed to do. But seeing a black and white photo of our soon to be child, just, fuck. I can't even describe the way it made me feel.

"Oh god" Tae whispered as he traced his finger over the sonogram

"This is just from the confirmation appointment but I figured you guys might want it" she smiled "so I bought the card, the next one you guys are more than welcome to come with me and see the baby for yourselves. I'll admit, right now it isn't much to look at" she snorted with a laugh making us chuckle "but you two seemed really eager to be part of the whole process"
