'Bye mom, I'm going!' Lily called out, hoping to reach her mother with her loud voice.
It worked, she noticed as she got an answer from her mother back.
'Okay, be careful and be home by dark!'
'Will do!' She shouted back before shutting the door behind her. And as soon as she did, the warm, but not too hot and not cold, wind hit her in her face, which felt pretty nice.
Lily was supposed to walk a few blocks, because a part of the street she was living in was blocked. She felt very excited, she actually couldn't wait to see the boy again.
But she was also kind of nervous, or- she didn't really know if she really was though, because it was just a friend she was hanging out with. Well, it depends on- yeah, no, he was just a friend. Right? But the voice in her head told her differently. Is he really a friend? Sure, she liked being around him, but it didn't go any further. Well, that was what she thought. Actually, her whole mind was just full with confusio-
What she hadn't noticed, was that whilst she drifted off, she almost walked right into a lamppost, so she quickly moved to the side, right before it would hit her.
Soon enough, she had reached the place where they would meet, yet she saw no familiar car around. He was probably a bit late, or she was just a bit early.
But a little later, she heard a car behind her, and when she turned around, she recognised it as his car. He parked the car and stepped out, a wide smile on his face.
'Hey you,' Louis greeted her as she walked towards him.
'Hi,' Lily said, and gave him a small hug.
'So, you ready to go?' He asked, and she nodded in response. Louis opened the door for her, Lily stepped in and when he was in the car as well, they drove away from the parking lot.
'Hey, you wanna be the DJ for today?' Louis grinned as he handed her his phone.
'Well, sure.' She smirked as she took the phone and played some of her favorite music.
Time flew by and before she knew it, they stood on the sidewalk, right before a small café called Tree and Tea. The name fitted right; the wall around the entrance was covered with branches from the trees that were stood right next to it.
The two teenagers stepped inside the café, seeing it wasn't really busy.
They went to the bar where they ordered their drinks; Louis a coffee, Lily an iced tea.
As soon as the two got served their drinks, they sat down at a table outside.
The weather was nice; no clouds were covering the sky.
Lily sat opposite to Louis. The boy was somewhere else with his thoughts, she noticed, while he was staring to the side of him. But she found herself also staring, not to the wall next to her, but at the face in front of her. She noticed his clear skin, shining in the sun, his pinkish lips, his eyes which were slowly moving to meet hers-
'Like the view?' Louis gave her a smug smirk, showing the small dimples on his cheeks.
She quickly looked away, suddenly finding her ice tea very, very interesting.
'Oh, shut up.' Was her answer, as she stirred in her tea with her straw.
'Right, right, I'm sorry,' He held his hands up in mock surrender. 'Wouldn't want to interrupt the staring.'
She rolled her eyes, acting like it didn't happen, while her face was still flustered. In response to his stupid joke, she crumpled a napkin and threw it right at his face, where it hit.
'Ha! That's what you get for being a jerk.'
'Hey! Okay, okay, I'm sorry.' He grinned. 'So, where do you want to go after this?'
She frowned. 'Wait, we're going somewhere else after this?'
'Well, yeah? I mean, we have a full day to spend. Unless you want to be sitting in your room all day, in your bed, all alone-'
'Okay, I get it,' She said. 'What about the mall? I do nee-'
'I was hoping it would be anything but to go shopping, but. . .'
'Why? Come on, it'll be fun. Please? Do it for me?' Lily begged.
Louis looked at her for a few seconds, and she could see it in his eyes he was considering the option, he just needed a little push.
'We won't go for long. After that, we'll do something you want to do.' She tried, and that seemed to work, as a mischievious smile appeared on his face.
'Fine, we'll go to the mall. But,' He raised his eyebrows. 'Then we're going to the skate park.'
'Why?'
'Oh, I don't know, maybe to . . . skate?' He said sarcastically.
'Oh, no no no, I'm not going to skate! I have no idea how to. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of all those people. What if I fall-'
'Then I'll catch you. Listen, I'm going to teach you how to skate, so don't worry. Come on Lils, you'll be fine.'
Lily sighed. 'Alright. But if you don't catch me when I fall . . .'
'. . .I'll be dead.' He finished the sentence. 'Yeah, I sorted that out already.'
She smiled. 'You know me too well.'
They finished their drinks and they were off to the mall, which wasn't much further away. It was a fifteen minute drive, and once they'd arrived, Lily was already dragging Louis from shop to shop.
They were almost an hour there when Louis said, 'I'm hungry.'
'Mhm,' Was Lily's response. Then, she held up a sweater in front of her. 'Hey, do you think this sweater looks good on me?'
Louis looked at her amused, noticing how she totally ignored him. 'I'm gonna be honest, I think everything looks good on you.'
Lily smiled. 'No, but like, seriously, not just as a compliment, does it look good? It is quite big tho . . .'
'Yeah, it's not just as a compliment. And about the size; the bigger, the better is what I always say.'
Her smile grew wider. 'Great. I'm just gonna get it.' She turned around to go buy the sweater. 'Oh, and Lou?' She turned back around. 'We'll go get some food right after this.'
