Izzie and I's alarm clock goes off early in the morning and both of us groan at the loud noise in return. I'm still not used to waking up this early in the morning. I push the button down on the clock and Izzie and I both walk downstairs to the bathroom to brush our teeth. Izzie carries a bottle of water with her since she refuses to drink out of the bathroom sink, but yet she'll use George's toothbrush? Cristina is in the shower and Meredith is lying on the bathroom floor when I enter. Cristina must've stayed the night here. When I got home, nobody else was here yet. George must still be sleeping upstairs, even though I still hadn't been talking to him since the incident. "Estrogen Rachel," Cristina mumbles.
"Okay. What did I miss now?" I ask Izzie.
Izzie pours some of the water from her bottle into a glass that Cristina is holding out of the shower door, "I came home to full vomit drama. Apparently she dumped Derek. And Cristina, she's been sleeping with Burke," Izzie fills me in.
"I knew that," I lie. They never tell me anything even though I live with two of them. I basically have to beg them for information about their lives. George is the only one who would tell me things and fill me in on everyone and their drama. "So you really broke up with Shepherd?" I ask Meredith. I start brushing my teeth in front of the sink.
"I feel empty," Meredith complains.
"Two hours of vomiting will totally do that to you," Izzie says. Izzie starts brushing her teeth now.
"No, I feel empty," Meredith mumbles to herself.
"You're lucky. I just feel pissed off," Cristina tells her. She slides the shower door shut. George walks in, so I finish brushing my teeth at the sink in the kitchen. I'm still not in the mood to talk to him at all.
We arrive at the hospital together and Meredith slams her car door shut. Cristina, George, Izzie, and I all follow her into the hospital. Before we can enter the doors, Derek is outside waiting for her. "Stop," Meredith says. The rest of us go inside so we can give them some privacy.
After sitting around in the hospital for a little while not having a case, an ambulance finally arrives.I know, finally is a bad choice of words, but I needed a case so bad. Alex, Izzie, and I all run out to grab a patient. We arrive at the ambulance bay to hear what the medic has to say about the patient. But there isn't only one patient with him, there's a whole family. Mother, father, and son. "Male, 46, unrestrained driver of the car that jumped lanes. BP 80 over palp. Tachycardic. Last pulse 1:38. Got two liters of LR running wide open. Significant abdominal tendencies," the medic informs us.
"Any history?" Bailey asks the medic.
"Uh, his wife says he's got a pretty bad liver. He's on the, ah transplant list," the medic nervously explains to Bailey. I can't blame him. I still get nervous having to talk to Bailey.
"Abdomen's rigid. Okay hand's off, everyone. We need to page Burke and Domner. Prep this guy for the OR. Who wants him?" Bailey instructs, asking us.
"I do!" Izzie raises her hand.
"I do," Alex says.
"I do, I do," I say eagerly.
"Uh, too late. Stevens takes it," Bailey orders. Izzie smiles and walks with the gurney with the husband on it into the hospital.
"Karev, take the younger boy," Bailey instructs. Another gurney enters and Alex follows them into the hospital.
"Lopez, you take the mom with you," Bailey tells me. I join the next gurney and follow them inside.
Once the wife is taken inside of the hospital, I find out her name is Lea, and I start examining and checking on her. "My husband Bob's a real good driver. He's safe. I think he saw something in the middle of the road and swerved to avoid it. The crash just, just came out of nowhere. We'd been having a really nice and peaceful morning. One minute everything's fine and then the next, I see a guy's face right before we hit," Lea explains to me. "Do the surgeon's know that Bob has a bad liver?" Lea asks me.
