As interns we know what we want... to become surgeons. And we will do anything to get there. Suffer through killer exams, endure 100-hour weekends, stand for hours on end operating rooms. You name it we'll do it. The tough part though is reconciling this huge thing we want, to be surgeons, with everything else we want.
All of us interns decided to go over to Cristina and Burke's apartment for the night to study for the intern exams that are coming up soon. "What are signs of a central line infection?" Alex asks Meredith.
"Puss, redness, and fever," Meredith answers.
"What's Khan's syndrome?" he asks Meredith again.
"Wait, wait, I know this one," she says.
"Tick tock," George mumbles under his breath.
"Cracking under the pressure?" I ask her.
"No!" Meredith says. "Um... hypocortisolism... cortolism..."
"Primary hypoaldosteronism. Yes, get out of the seat. My turn," Cristina says, standing up and walking over to the chair at the front of the room.
"No it's my turn," Izzie argues.
"No it's not," Cristina says.
Burke walks into the room from the kitchen with a piece of cake on a fork. Cristina and Burke are wedding cake testing since they're wedding is coming up in no time. "Try this one. White sponge with vanilla buttercream," Burke insists while putting the fork in her face.
"Okay yeah. I'm trying to study for the most important test of my intern career. I don't have time for a wedding cake right now," Cristina says, turning her head away from the fork.
"Just try it please," Burke says.
"Go, go!" Izzie yells at me since it's my turn to ask her the questions.
"What is the strongest layer of the small bowel?" I ask her.
Burke puts the piece of cake in Cristina's mouth. "Fine, it's yummy, go!" Cristina yells at him with her mouth full.
"Damn it. Damn it. Damn it. Damn it!" Izzie yells.
"It is not snot," I say, trying to help her.
"Submucosa!" Izzie yells.
"Yes," I say while nodding my head.
"Look at all of us, independently brilliant," Izzie smiles.
"Dream team," George says, also smiling.
"Yeah, yeah. I wanna hurl at the sound of that. Ott of the seat," Cristina says too Izzie.
"No, no it's my turn now," Alex argues.
"Oh come on!" Cristina yells, throwing her hands up in the air.
Burke walks into the living room with another small piece of cake on a fork. "This is the lemon, it might be a little tart," he says while walking over to Cristina. Cristina takes a bite and does not react. "Is it too tart?" he asks her.
"Baby, I don't really care," she says, turning back around to play the game.
"You don't really care? We'll get another bride," he huffs.
"I love it. I love all kinds of cakes. Now please break the tie for us," Cristina says, clearly annoyed with him.
"Karev's right," Burke says before walking back into the kitchen.
After a long night of studying, we go back to the hospital where in the conference room, Burke is setting up wedding cake samples for the other doctors. "Uh, what are you doing?" Cristina asks him.
