9. Opening Statements

Previously: It was a paperwork day at the BAU, when you finished you had an encounter with Nick. You ended up having to tell the rest of the team about your past.

It's been a week. Hotch was able to get you to go on trial against Nick. He's been in a holding facility ever since that day. Today was the start of the trial. You got yourself a lawyer even though Hotch offered. You knew that since he knew you it would interfere with the trial. Your lawyer's name is Julia Stevens.

You were a bit nervous. You'd be telling the most traumatic part of your past, and be questioned on it. You'd have to see him, again. You were hoping that this would be smooth sailing. You threw on a simple pantsuit along with a watch. You put your hair in a tight bun with two strands of hair in the front. You put in simple studs in your ears. You made yourself look professional as possible.

It's about 8:15 in the morning. You took your purse, phone, keys, and purse. You hopped in the car and drove to the closest Dunks. You ordered your usual coffee and decided to get something to eat. You made sure not to get crumbs anywhere. After 20 minutes you arrived at the courthouse earlier than you needed to be. You went inside and saw your lawyer was there too.

Y/N: "Hi Miss Stevens."

Stevens: "Hi Miss Monroe, are you ready to go over everything that's going to happen today?"

Y/N: "May as well right? We're both here anyway."

Stevens: "Sounds good. Come with me."

You and Julia walk into a designated room and go over the game plan. Today consists of introductions and a basic summary of what this is about. Along with juries seeing if they know either of you. It's around 9 o'clock. You and Julia head into the courtroom. You see the whole team sitting.

Y/N: "You guys came?"

Penelope: "Of course we did, we love you Y/N, we're here for whatever you need!" She gives you a quick hug.

Y/N: "Thanks guys, this means a lot." You force a smile.

Morgan: "You'll kick ass Y/N." He says nodding his head.

Hotch: "I have no doubt that it'll be in your favor."

Y/N: "Thanks for making this possible Hotch, how can I ever repay you for this?"

Hotch: "You stay strong, and continue to do your best everyday."

Y/N: "Thanks again Hotch."

He nods.

Emily: "Just remember to breathe Y/N, everything will be ok."

JJ: "We're all very proud of you Y/N." She says giving you a smile.

Spencer looks at you and gives you a tight-lipped smile along with a nod.

Rossi: "After this case is done I'm taking everyone out for a victory dinner, all on me so leave your wallets at home."

Y/N: "Oh jeez Rossi, I can't ask you to do that."

Rossi: "Good thing you didn't ask, I'm doing it anyway."
