In Between

29. A Fresh One

Previously: You and Spencer's relationship is rocky and you're in the middle of a case.

By the time everyone's done interviewing and talking about the information they got, it was time to sleep. Penelope had assigned rooms and Hotch announced who was with who.

Hotch: "Alright everyone, Garcia sent me the list of who's with who. JJ and Emily are in room 201, Tara's in 202, Luke in 203, Derek in 204, I'm in 205, Spencer and Y/N are in 206."

Your heart jumped a little. I mean, you can't exactly blame Penelope, she didn't know. No one really knew what was going on between you both. All you had to do for now was put on a fake smile and deal with it when you were at the hotel.

Emily: "Thanks for letting us know."

Tara: "Where's our keys?"

Hotch: "In these envelopes."

Derek: "Thanks Hotch."

Hotch: "No need to thank me, Penelope did all of this."

Tara: "Oh she'll definitely be thanked by 'Chocolate Thunder' one way or another."

JJ: "What, jealous Derek has a nickname from Penelope and you don't?"

Luke: "I think she is." He teased.

Y/N: "Guys could we not do this right now? It's been a long day, I just wanna go to sleep."

Hotch: "Agreed. Everyone grab your keys and head over to the hotel. We have a big day tomorrow."                                                                                                          

Everyone grabbed their keys, Spencer grabbed the key for your shared room and walked up to you.

Spencer: "Do you want me to drive?"

Y/N: "I don't care, we get there either way."

Spencer: "Alright."

Spencer begins to walk to the car and you follow. Once you both are buckled he drives you both to the hotel. After you check in you head up to the room. You see that there's only one bed.

Spencer: "What're we going to do? There's only one bed."

Y/N: "We're adults, we'll share the bed."

Spencer: "But-"

Y/N: "No buts, I'm tired, I just want to go to sleep."

Spencer: "Alright." He said quietly. You threw your stuff in a chair, grabbed your pj's and some other things.

You quickly went into the bathroom, brushed your teeth and did your night routine. After you finished, you put some of your things back and climbed under the covers. You both turned off the lights and there was an awkward silence, you ended up falling asleep anyway.

At some point you had woken up and couldn't fall back asleep, it was around four in the morning. You did your morning routine and got ready for the day. You grabbed a book from your bag and began to read. An hour or two passed by when Hotch called your phone. There was a new body. Her name was Bridget Newman. She was around the same age as the other victims and fit the criteria. You woke up Spencer to have him get ready. You took your badge and holster along with your gun. Once Spencer was ready, you both got into the car and headed to the police department.
