"Alright, let's head home first so we can get you cleaned up." Kakashi said. Midori nodded happy to finally be able to wash up again and even happier to have a place to call home. She got a bowl of water every so often while being held captive but the water was always cold and never enough to truly get clean. She wondered what warm water would feel like.
Not wanting to put her through the stress of walking the streets again, Kakashi decided to teleport them to his home. Once there he lowered her to the ground and led her to the bathroom. "You can take a shower here and I'll get some clothes of mine for you to wear until we get you your own."
Her own clothes. Midori liked the sound of that. She had occasionally gotten some new rags whenever she had outgrown the previous ones or they had been damaged too much to wear but they never truly belonged to her.
Yet she felt troubled. She knew the small cabin must be the shower, some other prisoner had told her what a shower was, but she had no idea how it worked. No longer around anyone other than Kakashi she felt at ease though and wasn't afraid to talk any longer.
"Kakashi-san how does the shower work?" Surprised by the question and her voice which, now that she was speaking up sounded like soft bells chiming in the wind, it took him a couple of seconds before he reacted.
He approached the shower, opening the cabin door, and turned on the water. Carefully feeling the temperature until he thought it would feel alright for her. "There you go. When your done turn both the tabs to the left until the water stops, but only when your done, you can take your time. This bottle is to wash your hair and this one is for your body. Be careful not to get any in your eyes because it stings."
After showing her each bottle he placed them on opposite rims of the shower so she wouldn't get them confused. Afterwards Kakashi left the bathroom and Midori removed the rags from her body carefully stepping into the cabin and under the warm stream of water.
The feel of the water startled her, She had never expected warm water to feel so soothing. Her muscles, that had still ached from her run, started to relax as all the dirt and grime slowly washed off her body.
After washing out her hair with water she decided to use the substance Kakashi had told her to. Careful not to get any of it in her eyes she rubbed it into her ground length hair. She would have to ask Kakashi to cut it for her afterwards.
It took a couple of rinse and repeats for her hair to finally feel and smell clean again but when it did she started to wash her body with the other substance. When she was done she cleaned her face with water once more before closing the taps like Kakashi had told her to.
During her shower Kakashi had come in and left a towel, shirt and shorts. She knew what a towel was used for but didn't exactly need it. So she remained in the cabin and used her power to dry her body and hair. Quite a lot quicker than towel drying.
Afterwards she stepped out and started to get dressed. The clothes were much to big but the shorts had strings which she pulled and tied so they wouldn't fall off and the shirt being to big didn't really matter to her.
Finished with getting dressed she found a brush next to the sink and started brushing out her long hair. It took a while but when she was down she called Kakashi hoping he would cut her hair for her.
He entered the bathroom slightly worried but when he saw her dressed and clean his worry quickly dissipated. "What is it?" He asked in a kind tone of voice, his posture returning to it's regular bored looking stance.
"Could you cut my hair?" She asked to which he asked how she wanted it cut. After telling him she wanted the length to be to her hip and her outgrown bang to be cut sideways he complied, cutting the upper layers of her hair shorter than the rest because of it's length. The lowest layer reaching the hip while the layer above that reached the end of her neck.
When he was done Midori moved her hand through her hair and smiled. "Thank you Kakashi." Her smiles were rare as she usually showed no emotion on her face unless it being towards him. He adored her smile and wanted to make sure that it became more and more common.
Now looking a lot more normal he decided it was time to get her some clothes. "Let's go shopping." He said holding his hand out for her to take. She nodded, a small, tender smile on her face as she took his hand and they walked out the door.
They walked through the streets towards the clothing shops, Kakashi giving her hand a reassuring squeeze every now and then. The stares weren't as numerous this time but there were still quite a few.
Arriving at the first shop, and the one Kakashi was least looking forward to, underwear. He walked in feeling extremely uncomfortable. Speeding with her through the store they quickly got everything they needed and moved on to the next.
Clothes. Since she was going to be a ninja he told her to keep that in mind while searching. She examined the clothes by touch and occasionally asked Kakashi what had the same colour.
Eventually she found an outfit she liked (number 6 only she added a scarf) and put it on. It was black with light green details and a dark green scarf. They both agreed they loved it and bought two extra sets before moving on to the next shop.
Weapons. Midori's face glowed with happiness as they entered the shop like a kid seeing a mountain of candy. 'How cute.' Kakashi thought even though it was slightly disturbing to see a child happy to get sharp objects.
They got her kunai, shuriken, wire and paper bombs. After getting the basics Kakashi said she could walk around the shop for a weapon she might like. Quite a few shinobi had a signature weapon so he figured she might like one as well.
After a short while Midori found a pair of weapons she adored the moment she discovered them. They were a pair of metal fans with extremely sharp edges and leaves engraved in them. Kakashi told her the fans were black with green engraving.
She faced him with a sweet expression. "You want them?" He asked already knowing the answer she nodded furiously in response. He sighed lightly seeing they were quite expensive but he couldn't refuse her request.
So he bought them and Midori happily placed them in her outfit. "Alright where should we go next?" He asked more to himself then the no giddy girl still firmly holding his hand.
As if on queue her stomach growled. "Hungry?" He asked rethorically. Anyone looking at her would see she had to be. But despite that she shook her head no. "I ate two days ago so I'm fine." Shocked Kakashi told her that from now on she would get three meals a day.
She didn't know how she would be able to eat so much but Kakashi seemed worried so she nodded saying she would try her hardest to do as he said. After that Kakashi asked her what she would like to eat.
Sniffing the air she found a delicious scent and started dragging Kakashi towards it, now knowing exactly what she wanted.
