Kaze No Kokoro (Naruto fanfic)

Survival training. ~ part 2

As Kakashi was talking to Naruto, who had fallen for his trap, Sasuke was hiding in a nearby tree. Midori could sense him getting ready for something but, not worried for her nii-san at all, just watched amused at Naruto's antics from her very own hiding spot.

Sasuke's eyes widened, as his pupils narrowed, when he saw an opening. Feeling that this was his chance, he threw several shurikens and kunai at the jounin. They flew towards Kakashi who was in the middle of a line, "You're so... oh?"

They hit, causing Sakura to gasp from a nearby bush and Naruto to exclaim, "He got hit! Sasuke the bastard really overdid it!"

Midori couldn't really understand what they were going on about, did they not see it was just a log?
Once it clattered on the floor it looked like her teammates noticed the replacement.

Sasuke started jumping through the trees, looking for a new place to hide, seeing as his cover was blown the instant he attacked. 'It's not like he didn't know where you were before.' Midori thought with a sigh. She supposed it was natural for genin to not be able to hide their chakra. Atleast that's the only reason she could think of.

Meanwhile Sakura was running through the woods aswell, searching for Sasuke, worried Kakashi had already found him. As she was running she saw Kakashi in front of her, in a small opening in the treeline. She came to a halt and, not seeing her look his way, thought she had avoided catching his attention.

However, "Sakura, behind you." Startled she looked behind to see Kakashi crouching right there. Her scream rang through the woods.

Quite far removed, Naruto was still stuck in the tree and nearby Midori was feeling conflicted. Should she help him? Would he want her to help him? Before she could decide she saw Naruto had already gotten a hold of his kunai and cut the rope.

He landed nicely on his feet in a crouch and smiled before... he fell in another trap. "I fell for it!" Midori couldn't take it anymore and burst out laughing. She decided that, since he was up there again, she'd help.

"Thanks Midori-chan but you should go your own way from now on, I need to do this on my own." Naruto said after she cut him down. She frowned wanting to interject but he was already moving away. 'I'll go and see what the others are doing then.' She thought and jumped through the trees towards where she sensed Sakura and Sasuke.

When she stumbled upon Sakura she had already fainted. Sasuke was nearby but so was Kakashi, so she took extra care in hiding her chakra and moving silently. Stopping nearby she started to oberve.

"I'm different from them." Sasuke really had a bad opinion of her team. Well, granted, Naruto and Sakura weren't doing very well, but how could they? Kakashi was a jounin, to Midori it seemed like common sense that they wouldn't do well on their own.

"Why don't you say that after you get a bell, Sasuke-kun." The two men ,or one and a quarter, stood in front of eachother, the air getting thick with tension. Midori frowned she hated how it made her feel.

The fight started and even Midori had to admit she was impressed. He was doing far better than the other two, Kakashi even said so himself, although in less flattering words.

Sasuke had now started to form the handsigns for the blazing fireball jutsu, surprising Kakashi who thought that it wasn't something a genin could do, as they do not have enough chakra.

As the jutsu ended Sasuke saw that Kakashi had gone. Frantically he looked around him until a hand came up from below. Kakashi used the suicidal beheading jutsu and dragged Sasuke into the ground below.

Kakashi crouched infront of Sasuke, bells chiming tauntingly, while only his head poked out of the ground. "This is the third ninja tactics know-how, Ninjutsu. How is it? Can't move, right?" Sasuke scowled while Kakashi continued "Looks like your talents are exceptional, but... they say stakes that point out get driven back into the ground."
