Kaze No Kokoro (Naruto fanfic)

Important explanatory note.

I ask all readers to please read this note as it explains Midori's power and some other things that are important to be able to fully understand the story and the character's actions, thank you in advance.

Now first off I am fully aware of the large amount of 'OP' characters and the annoyance it can be to some readers. Now I want to let all of you know that I do not in any way wish for my character to be received in that way. So I would like to explain her power, or bloodline limit, and it's limitations.

First I will explain her sensory skill. Now with this I mean her way of seeing not her ability to sense chakra. This sensory skill allows her to 'see' at a 360 degree angle, or all around her. Now she can see about as far with this skill as we can see with our eyes, including the decrease in the amount of detail at longer distances. She can however also use it to look farther ahead, this will cost her chakra (and will make her eyes glow) and cause her to not be able to sense things close to her, leaving her vulnerable to attacks.

Second I would like to explain her ability to 'airbend'. Now it works in about the same way as I just suggested which means she can simply move the air. She cannot change the temperature or remove the oxygen nor can she make it cut. This essentially makes it unable to deal damage on it's own as anyone with enough chakra control could make it so they stick to the ground at high wind speeds. She can however combine it with jutsu's, others or her own, to make the jutsu more powerfull, as well as use it to deflect attacks. Please note that this power costs chakra and does take some time to work, so she cannot use it to deflect everything. While using this her eyes glow as well.

Now the third and last part of the power is the ability to dissipate into the air. Now when using this the cells that make up her body essentially disappear, literally turning into air, her chakra however does not. Her chakra spreads out through the air making it so that it can be sensed but not affected in any way. Now this is by no means an ultimate defense. Not only does it cost chakra but she can also still be harmed as well. Just like the air itself is affected by heat and cold so are the cells of her body that have transformed into it. Exposing the air around her chakra to extreme heat or cold would cause her body to almost immediately materialize again and take damage. It is also a technique that cannot be used in offense against an opponent with at least chunin level chakra sensory skills. You see, before her body materializes her chakra gathers in one place and it takes a full second from the chakra being there to her body being there as well. This allows opponents to sense where she'll appear next and attack the instant her body appears. This is the same case for when she dissipates.

Now in the previous chapter she used the technique as a means of teleportation and this does work well on short distances (keep in mind there will be a 2 second delay), long distances however cost a lot more chakra. For instance, should she teleport from Konoha to Suna it would cost nearly all her chakra causing her to be unable to fight immediately after. This makes the technique essentially useless for long-distance teleporting unless it is to deliver an important message or document quickly. For now I have decided to only make her able to dissipate objects alongside her and I believe I will keep it that way.

As a last note on her power, before moving on to other important things, is more of a question. I have not yet named it and would prefer not to have to remain calling it power so I would like your help. If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments. I will read everyone of them and will let you know when I have decided.

Now on to the next subject. In the last chapter I had Iruka state Midori was nearly at jounin level and Kakashi state about the same after sparring with her some chapters before that. Now I know having a higher level shinobi on the team could potentially alter the story line a lot but please know I will do my best to have the majority of the events the same and the character consistent at the same time. For those of you that wonder how a little girl of 12 could be at such a level I want you to know that I only chose to make it so after careful deliberation. After all a young yet powerful shinobi is not unheard of. (Kakashi, Haku, Gaara.)

As to her ability to sense the ninetails inside of Naruto. It is not uncommon for people who lose, or simply don't have, one of their senses to gain another. Midori gained a very close bond to nature. Like air she is part of it but unlike other humans she is far more connected to that part of her. This allows her to sense all living things including the ninetails and allows her to understand animals as well. So should she meet other jinchuuriki she would instantly sense the tailed beasts sealed inside of them as well. Should a shinobi be able to summon animals she would know which ones even though I have not mentioned her knowing Kakashi can summon dogs.

Now her love interest remains undecided and although I have some ideas I would very much appreciate your input on the matter.

Last but not least, should anything be unclear, either now or in the future, I ask you to please tell me. I want everyone to be able to enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoy writing it and would be more than happy to explain anything you guys might not understand.
