Midori woke up early feeling the soft rays of sunrise shining through the window. She of course had no clue what time it was but could hear the slow and steady breathing of her nii-san indicating he was still asleep.

She however was wide awake and, although she loved the softness of what she assumed was a bed, had no desire to go back to sleep. So she went to the bathroom to wash her face and got dressed.

She went into the living room sensing Kakashi who was still asleep in his futon. Not wanting to be late for her first day of school, even though she did not know when it would start, she approached him and gently asked him to wake up.

Startled, Kakashi awakened, not being used to having anyone else in his apartment. He quickly remembered his new family member however and instantly calmed down. "Sorry for waking you but I don't know what time it is and I didn't want to be late for school." Her voice was soft and worried signaling she might think he was angry.

He wasn't however and softly ruffled her hair saying it was alright. He left the room to get ready for the day after telling Midori to wait here. When he returned he saw that she had neatly folded his futon and was patiently sitting on the couch waiting for his return.

He proceeded to make a simple breakfast and they sat at the table enjoying the sounds of morning. The people of Konoha slowly awakening and starting their day, the birds chirping and the occasional breeze rustling the leaves of the many trees that were spread throughout the village and surrounded it.

When they were done Kakashi cleared away the dishes after sending Midori to brush her hair. She tied the longest layer with a green ribbon and returned to the living room ready to start her day. Kakashi, having finished the dishes, was ready to leave as well. This would be one of the rare times he arrived anywhere on time, but for Midori's sake he really wanted to be.

They left the apartment hand in hand walking towards the academy. Midori silently memorizing the way there while wearing her emotionless mask once again. The stares were not as common anymore but the many people still bothered her.

When they arrived she noticed other students slowly entering the academy as well. Holding Kakashi's hand tightly they entered the buildings receiving quite a lot of stares while approaching the classroom. Once there Kakashi called out what would become her new teacher.

"Iruka" After noticing Kakashi the chunin approached. "Ah this must be the new student the Hokage told me about. Midori was it?" Even though he sounded nice she didn't trust him but replied correcting him. "Hatake Midori." She said her voice was clear yet emotionless just like her face even so, below the mask she was terrified.

"I see." He replied looking at Kakashi questionably. He knew they weren't related so he wondered why he allowed her to use his last name. "She is my little sister." Kakashi said his eyes narrowing daring Iruka to say anything otherwise.

Iruka got the hint and turned his attention back to the girl. Her emotionless face made him a bit nervous but he tried to hide it the best he could, which wasn't very well. "You can call me Iruka-sensei." He said while giving her a soft smile somehow hoping that, even though she was blind, it would change her demeanor.

She did sense his smile but her mask remained fully intact as she patiently waited for him to continue. Seeing he wouldn't get a reply he did. "This will be your classroom you can go in and pick any seat you'd like."

Knowing this would be where they parted Midori hugged Kakashi which definitely surprised Iruka. "Bye bye Kashi-nii." She said softly but still clearly audible. Kakashi hugged her back with one arm and softly pet her head. "Bye bye Midori, I'll come pick you up after school, okay?" She nodded still hugging him but then let go becoming emotionless once again.
