I squeezed Chase's hand tightly as we drove to set. We were meeting at the Port of Charleston where we would be filming our final scene on one of the smaller cargo boats there. I was as nervous as I was the first week of filming, but this time it was because we were ending. This was it. I couldn't believe the summer was coming to an end. It wasn't going to be a long shoot either. We would be filming getting on board the ship along with the interior scene. This was also the last scene of the entire season. As we pulled up to the parking lot it seemed that the crew were solemn but still in high spirits to finish out the show. Everyone greeted us as we passed and made our way to wardrobe. We had a great time filming the boat scene yesterday though it was a bit cold in the water.
"I'll see you in a bit," Chase told me as we had to split up for him to go to hair and makeup and I went to change.
I nodded once and he squeezed my hand before heading off in another direction. I had to clean out my trailer yesterday since they hadn't brought them here. They had tents set up to change in and once I was set I made my way to hair and makeup as well.
"I can't handle these emotions," Elaine said walking up beside me, "And to think you were already ahead of all of us at the beginning of the summer.
"It sometimes pays to be an overly emotional person," I laughed wrapping my arm around her waist as we went, "We have the after-party tonight though and the official wrap party next week."
"That's the only thing that's getting me through the day," she shook her head.
We walked into the trailer together and Chase was at the other end getting his makeup done though it didn't really matter as we were going to be drenched in water. I sat down and Elaine sat in the empty chair beside me to chat.
"What are you going to wear tonight?" Elaine asked than answered before I could, "Nevermind, it'll be a cute sundress of course."
"Well, you're not wrong," I laughed, "That is my go-to."
The wrap party tonight was at Jonas' house. All the cast and crew were invited to celebrate the end of the season. They were also going to have a more formal wrap party like I had said, next week. Everyone was excited for that one as we hadn't had much opportunity to really dress up at all. After that, one by one everyone would head their separate ways. I was leaving towards the end of the week once I had all of my stuff packed up. Chase was staying a bit longer as they started the post-production and he needed to do some voiceovers. I couldn't think about that yet otherwise, I'd be a mess. I realized I had been staring down the row at Chase who had been moving his hand to try and catch my attention. I shook my head and smiled back to acknowledge I had seen him.
Elaine ushered us over to the cargo ship and was given our instructions on how to run the first scene of getting on board. We met the actors playing the cargo ship crew and ran the scene before filming a few times. After they soaked us with a hose Chase climbed the ladder on the side of the ship to start the scene as I was set already on the deck.
One of the crew members put a blanket over my shoulders as we watched Chase struggle to get on board.
"Come on. I got you, big boy," the captain said wrapping his hand around Chase's arm to help him up, "Ah, come on. I got you."
I held the blanket tightly around my shoulders.
"You all right?" The captain asked putting a blanket around his shoulders as well.
"Yeah," Chase responded, finally speaking.
"Oh, man, y'all lucky that we came through here," he said before the crew members guided us to the captain's wheelhouse, "Hey, Larry! Get some coffee on!"
