"She doesn't have a fever, but she says she doesn't feel well." I leaned my head up agasint my headboard, as I watched my mom pace my room back and forth. "I don't know what's wrong August, all I know is that she doesn't feel good, she doesn't look to good either, her face is kinda pale, and her eyes are a little puffy."

"Alright, Im gunna schedule her a doctor's appointment, but she's staying home with me today, Ellis will the run the shop for me." I sighed, completeing forgetting my mom would rush me to the doctor if she thought I was sick.

"Okay, I'll call you back and let you know how she's doing, have a good day alright?" I sat up straight, waiting for there conversation to be over. "I love you too, and she'll be fine." She smiled a little before hanging up the phone.

She stuffed her phone in her jean pocket before turning to me. "You want something to eat?" I shook my head. "No, Im fine." She slightly frowned. "You sure? You need to put something in your stomach baby, especially if you don't feel well."

I sighed, knowing I would have to go along with this sick act for the rest of the day. I actually feel fine, I just wasn't in the mood to go to school today. After being embarrased infront of half of the Senior class, and finding out my boyfriend was cheating on me with the biggest hoe in the school, I definetely needed a day off.

"I'll take a bowl of cereal." My mom nodded. "Alright, I'll be right back." I sunk back into my bed as I watched her walk out of my room and down the stairs to the kitchen.

I picked up my phone and scrolled through all of my missed calls and unopened text messages. The funny thing about it was, I only had two missed calls from Tyree, and the rest were from Marissa and Amara. It would seem as if Tyree would be the one blowing up my phone, trying to get me to talk to him, but he wasn't. I guess that shows how much he actually did care.

"Aye." I looked up from my phone to see AJ standing in my doorway. "Mama told me you was sick." He pulled his bookbag up on his back and leaned against my doorframe. "...Yeah...Im not feeling too good."

He folded his arms across his chest and lifted a brow. "You sure? Or you just don't wanna go because of what happened yesterday?" I was silent.

He sighed. "Come on Li, toughen up, fuck Tyree, and fuck that hoe Meeka, don't be hiding out because of what happened, shit like that makes you look weak." I sighed.

"Im not hiding....Im just not ready to deal with everything right now....just give me a day to get it together." He sucked his teeth. "Come on, get up, put that makeup shit on and undo yo doo doo braids and get it together, ion need nobody tryna call my sister a punk."

I sighed again. "Just go to school alright? I promise I'll be better tommorow." He sighed and shook his head. "Ight, I'll let you know how today goes." I let out a small smile. "Okay."

He turned around and walked away, just in time for my mom to be coming with my bowl of cereal.

"Have a good day baby." She kissed AJ's cheek before stepping into my room. "You want something else?" She asked, handing me my bowl and spoon.

"No, Im okay..thanks." She smiled. "I tried calling Dr.Thomas, but his office isn't open yet, maybe I can call our family doctor to stop by the house later today to check you out."

She pulled her phone out her pocket and started to dial his number. I bit down on my bottom lip, contemplating whether I should tell her thr truth or not.

I knew if she called our family doctor over here to examine me, and nothing was wrong, she would be pissed, and not to mention suspicious as to why I lied to her about being sick. I sat my bowl on my nightstand and sighed.
