"Your staying after school right?" I pulled my history book out of my locker and shut the door. "Yeah, It's my first day of tutoring." Marissa smiled as she leaned up agaisnt the lockers. "I still can't believe your going to be a tutor, but to each it's own." She pulled her bag up on her shoulder and looked down at her phone.
"Damn, where the hell is your brother, Im ready to go home." I chuckled. "I could have sworn he said he had practice today." She sucked her teeth. "I know damn well he doesn't have me waiting on him, and he's shooting balls in a net." I chuckled again.
"I swear if he wasn't so damn fine I would have left his ass by now." I slightly frowned, feeling a little disgusted. She reached into her bag and pulled out her car keys. "Im gunna go, if you see your brother tell his big head ass to call me." I nodded. "Alright."
She pushed her short hair behind her ears before walking off down the hall. I took a deep breath as I turned around, making my way down the opposite side of the hallway, to the library.
Everyone that signed up for tutoring was suppose to meet in the library at 3:00, so I didn't want to be late.
I pushed open the doors to the library and handed my slip to the lady at the desk. "Take a seat at one of the tables." I nodded, scanning the room for a empty table. There weren't too many people in here, but it seemed that majority of the tables were taken, since they're were a few tutors here already.
I dropped my purse on the table and sat down at the empty table, looking at the time. I thought that whoever I was tutoring would be here by now, since everyone has started already.
I heard a muffled vibration coming from my purse, causing me to open it up and pull it out. I rolled my eyes once I seenn Tyree calling. This was thhe first time he's called me since the beach last week, and franky Im over it. I hit the ignore button and put my phone back in my bag.
"Aye." I quickly looked up once I heard a familar voice infront of me. "...You my tutor?" I slighly frowned once I seen Marcus standing infront of the table. "...Um...yeah I guess so."
"Ight." He mumbled. He dropped his bag on the table, automatically hitting me with the smell of weed.
I cleared my throat, opening up my history book to the chapter we were currently doing in class.
"...Well um...what do you know about The Civil Rights Movement?" He scratched the back of his head before shrugging. "Ion know." I nodded slowly.
"...Well do you have your textbook?" I glanced at the empty table and then his bookbag. "Nah....I was hopin I could use yours."
I slightly sighed. "Um yeah sure...just come around the table so we can share." He scooted his chair closer to mine, as I faced the book infront of us.
"Okay." I started. "Well basically The Civil Rights Movement were social movements in the U.S. whose goal was to end discrimination and racial segregation from the years of 1954 to 1968." He nodded.
".....Shouldn't you be writing this down?" He sighed before reaching into his bag and pulling out a crumbled piece of paper and a pen.
"The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. Acts of nonvioent protest and civil disobdience produced severe situations between the activitis and the goverment authorities." He scribbled something down on his paper before looking back up at me.
"..Protests such as the Montgomery Bus boycott, and sit in Greensboro, Alabama, and the marches in Selma and North Carolina were all acts of nonviolent protests."
