I thought I was invincible

Chapter 1

*ruff, ruff*
I woke to the sound of my dog barking. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I dragged myself out of bed and put on my robe. I slowly walked out of my bedroom and to the front door where my dog was standing. "Chloe" I said "stop it!" I looked threw the peephole and saw my best friend, Skylar standing there with Tim Hortons in her hands. I got excited and opened the door quickly. "Hey!" I said "Hey Nicolette! Sorry, did I wake you?" Skylar said
"Yeah but it's okay, I have to get ready for school and plus for Tim Hortons, you can wake me Anytime"
Skylar giggled. "here you go" she handed me a bag and a cup of coffee
"Thanks"
"No problem"
We walked to my room and ate our breakfast, while I got ready for school. I put on a white crop top from Hollister and dark wash jean shorts from Brandy Melville. "That's really cute" Skylar said. "Thanks, what time is it?" "Uh.. 6:52" school starts at 7:30 and we usually leave at 7:10. "Okay we can go as soon as I do my makeup" i said. skylar nodded and went to throw our trash away. When I finished getting ready, we slipped on our shoes and grabbed our bags. We hopped in our own cars and drove to school. When we got to school, our friends were already there.
"Hey guys" I said
"Hey" Cameron said, walking over to Skylar. Cam and Skylar have this flirty thing going on, they talk non stop and make cute faces at eachother. I wish they'd just go out already but Skylar won't ask him out and Cams to shy to do it himself. It's really irritating.
"Hi" Skylar says, when Cam approaches her.
They start talking.
Nash walks up to me
"Hey beautiful" he says, kissing me. Nash and I have been dating for a little over a year. He asked me to homecoming freshman year and it's one week until the last day of sophomore year now.
The bell rings and we all hurry to our classes. I walked with Skylar to first period. "wanna hang out after school with Nash and I?" I asked her. "did you ask Cameron already?" She asked. i laughed "Nash is going to ask him third period" "then I'll go" "even if cam dosent?" "Maybe" she joked. I knew she'd go no matter what but I could tell that she really wanted Cameron to go. We walked in to art and saw our friend Hanna was already there. "Hey guys!" She said enthusiastically
"Hey" Skylar and I said simultaneously
"Are you two going to the end of the year party on Saturday?" Hanna asked
"I think so" I said
"Yeah" sky added
Hanna began to say something but the bell cut her off. Three more periods past until it was finally time for lunch. I walked with Cameron to lunch and we talked about Skylar. "You should ask her out" I said
"I want to but I..." His voice trailed off. "c'mon, you know she'll say yes"
"You don't know that"
"Yes I do, she told me that she would" he stayed quiet so I changed the subject.
"Did Nash ask you about hanging out with all of us after school?" I asked
"Yeah, I can" he said as we sat down with our group. We sit at a round table with me, Skylar, Nash, Cam, Hanna, Liz, Aaron, Josh, and Kennedy. Josh is pretty quiet but funny once you get to know him. Liz has a new crush every single week. Kennedy's dating Andrew, who usually sits with us but he's on vacation in Miami.
"Hey" Liz said when we sat down
"Hey" I replied
"Skylar how did you do on the Science Quiz?" Kennedy asked her
"I did pretty bad..."
I didn't hear much of that convo after that because Liz started talking to me.
"Your coming to my party on the last day, right?" She asked
"Of course" I said.
"So Liz, who's your crush this week" cam joked
"Certainly not you" she joked back
"Because I'm too pretty for you" cam laughed.
Liz gave Cam a fake smile and then started talking to Hanna.
"I have something to tell you" Nash said
"What is it?" I asked
"Not yet"
"C'mon, tell me" I said but the bell rung and Nash didn't hear me.
All I thought about the rest if the day what was Nash wanted to tell me. Was it good? Bad? Was he breaking up with me? No, he wouldn't do that. I tried to ask him again after last period but his car was already gone when I went out to the parking lot. I totally forgot that we were hanging out at 2, so I waited to ask him then.
I drove to Nash's house and Cam was already there. "Nicolette, come check this out" Cam said when i came in.
I sat down next to him and Nash sat next to me. "okay so I found this old video of us from like first grade" Cameron and I have lived next door to each other since we were born and we've been friends out whole lives. I met Nash in 3rd grade and Skylar in 5th.
"Where?" I asked, curious.
"I found it on my moms laptop and sent it to my phone, here watch"
He played the video. it was us singing the national anthem.
"Oh my god" I said covering my face. Cam and I were cracking up.
"You look so cute" Nash said
"You mean I do" Cam said
"Shut up" I said. I pushed him in a playfully way and he pushed me back. I picked up a pillow and hit him with it, he hit me back and we both started laughing. It was just like when we were kids. The doorbell rung and Nash went to get it. Him and Skylar walked in. "What are they doing?" She said laughing. "being weirdos" Nash said. We stopped fighting. "I am not a weirdo" Cam said. "Uh ya you are" I said, hitting him again. Skylar laughed. Cam tossed me his pillow and I threw them both on the couch. I walked over to Nash and he put his arm around me and kissed my forehead. "What was that about?" Skylar asked cam. "it all started with this video.." he teased. "Cameron, no" I said trying to grab his phone. "fine, fine, I won't show her" he said
"Good" I said
"I'll send it to you" cam whispered to Skylar . I rolled my eyes and he laughed.

Later that night, after I got back from Nash's, I was laying in bed, texting him.

Nash: hey babe

Nicolette: hey😊

Nash: what are you doing?

Nicolette: watching Netflix, what about you?

Nash: thinking...

Nicolette: about what?

Nash: you

Nicolette: awe

Nash: are excited for the party on Friday?

Nicolette: yeah... can I ask you something?

Nash: shoot

I just remembered that I forgot to ask him about the thing he wanted to tell me when I was at his house.

Nicolette: what did you want to talk to me about?

Nash: it's still not time

Nicolette: then when can you tell me about it?

Nash: Saturday

Nicolette: why, what's on sarurday?

Nash: I'm taking you to the beach

Nicolette: really?

Nash: yeah and I'll tell you there

Nicolette: alright

Nicolette: it's late, I should go to bed

Nash: me too, goodnight beautiful❤️

Nicolette: goodnight, I love you😘

Nash: I love you too. sleep tight.

I smiled, turned off my phone, and closed my eyes.
