Sophias POV:
Things with Serena seemed to have hit an all time low. I didn't know how to fix things after today. The look on her face when she revealed that I had broken her trust was replaying in my head endlessly and I wished nothing more than to take away any hurt I'd ever given her.
I was currently driving down the dimly-lit streets while my mind was consumed with thoughts of the girl who once seemed so close. When I reached my driveway the sun had completely set and I took a deep breath letting the cool air fill my lungs before opening my door and exiting the car. When I reached my porch I noticed a figure I couldn't quite make out sitting on the chair in the corner. As I approached the girl stood and I realized it was Rachel.
I was immediately filled with rage. As if she hasn't caused enough damage, what more could she possibly want.
"What do you want Rachel this isn't really a good time" the hostility in my voice very apparent.
She came closer to me and seemed to be a little agitated, nervous even.
"Look I know I'm the last person you want to see right now but I'm not here for me."
Her bright blue eyes were looking at me in a pleading way but I honestly wanted nothing to do with her.
"Save it. I've heard enough of your bullshit" I went to open my front door when she placed a perfectly manicured hand on my wrist preventing me.
"Please Soph, It's about Serena"
My heart instantly dropped and the feeling of nausea consumed me. I immediately turned in her direction and I'm sure she could see the fear radiating from my body.
"What about Serena?" my voice was trembling and I couldn't pull my eyes away from her's.
"Look don't freak out but-"
"I AM freaking out Rachel so just tell me what's going on!" I barked in pure desperation.
"Serena is missing!" she blurted out and in that moment I thought I would pass out. Every sense in my body seemed to be working on overdrive and I didn't even notice when salty drops of liquid began to stain my cheeks.
"What do you mean she's missing" my tone had lowered due to how hard it had become to form words.
"I was with Jax and he got a call from Carmen saying they were at some beach house and she just took off. She didn't tell anyone where she was going and she left her phone at home. Jax went out looking for her but he asked me to come here and see if you knew anything."
I was trying to respond but couldn't seem to get any words to come out of my mouth. What if she was hurt or what if something happened to her and she's all alone? What if this is my fault?
The tears were still streaming and as I ran through every worst possible explanation. I had no idea what to do but I couldn't just stand here and do nothing.
"Soph?... you okay?" Rachel was looking at me with sympathy in her gaze as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
Just as I was about to respond a car game whipping up to my house. A very troubled looking Jax hopped out of the drivers seat and jogged over to us.
"Have you heard anything?" his voice was laced with concern and fear. His bright green eyes seemed dim and tired and his hair that typically laid neatly slicked back was thrown about his head.
"N-no, I haven't talked to her since school today" I stuttered. My arms were crossed against my chest and the cool night air combined with my heightening anxiety was giving me chills.
