PROLOGUE

"Good morning, Attorney!"

"Welcome back, Attorney!"

Mga salitang natanggap ko sa sandaling nakapasok ako sa sarili kong firm. It has been two years since I came here. Hindi nila inaasahan na ngayon ako babalik at wala naman akong sinabi na ngayon ako babalik. Kaya alam ko bakit ganito sila makatingin sa akin ngayon. Some are looking at me like I am a complete stranger on my own firm. Ang iba rin ay mukhang masaya sa aking pagbabalik.

I plastered a smile to all of them as a sign of response, might be disrespectful but that's the way I like it. I grazed my way towards the lift just so I could reach my office upstairs. So far, okay lang naman ang umaga ko, sana naman walang sagabal sa unang araw nang pagbabalik ko. I pushed the number eight, indicating that I am going to go out on that said floor and without longer pace of waiting, the lift's door revealed the lobby towards my office.

Gano'n pa rin naman ang ayos. Malinis. Nandoon pa rin ang cubicle kung saan naghihintay ang sekretarya ko. Ang kaibahan lang ngayon ay wala ang aking sekretarya roon nakaupo. Tiningnan ko ang aking relo at sakto namang eight thirty iyon. Late ba siya?

I am almost close to calling her, but the sound of an opening door caught me. Faye, my secretary came out from my office's door and seems like she's constipated by the look of her face.

"A-attorney... welcome back po!" She welcomed me with voice full of nervousness. I raised my brow and surveyed her appearance. Hands trembling, pale face, voice shaking and distracted eyes. There's something wrong.

"Hindi mo yata sinabi sa akin na babalik ka Attorney, para man lang ma welcome ka namin."

"No, it is fine. Just lead me to my office. May ipapagawa ako sa 'yo," sabi ko sa kaniya.

"Uh, Attorney... lilinisan k-ko po muna opisina mo..." utal-utal niyang sabi sa akin.

I raised my brow again and deeply viewed her as someone that has something under her sleeves.

"Are you hiding something from me?" I interrogated her with an odd manner. She know how of a strict I am.

"W-wala po Attorney... sadyang marumi lang po talaga opisina m- "

"How can the lobby towards my office be so clean then my own office is dirty? Are you seriously trying to trick me of something?" She avoided my questions.

"Attorney -"

"Out of my way, papasok ako sa opisina ko!"

My head literally want to burst because of the anger I felt. Was she making me a fool?

"Attorney!" Sigaw niya pero hindi talaga ako nakinig at walang pagdadalawang-isip kong binuksan ang pinto.

Shock enveloped me the moment I saw who's sitting in the chair, in front of my work table. My mind wants to explode more because of the mixed emotions. Hindi ko rin alam bakit nandito siya. Ito ba ang tinatago ng sekretarya ko kaya ayaw niya akong papasukin. My breathing is now becoming heavy. It feels like my chest is clenching in pain by just the sight of him. On my first day here, bakit siya agad ang masisilayan ko sa opisina?

"What's the fucking meaning of this?" My voice thundered in my office as soon as I blurted that question.

"Why are you here? Who allowed you to visit my firm?" I asked him but he didn't answer.
