Peps POV
Johnny tells me the truth after I make him, "want some pancakes?" I ask Soda and Johnny "yep." Soda says cheerfully, "come get it yourself." I say as I bring me and Johnny's plate in the living room. He smiles at me in thanks, "whys he get his plate brought in, and I don't?" "He's cutest." I say, Johnny's face turns red and Soda walks in the kitchen with a huff.
After an episode of Mickey the whole gang had eaten an where about to leave for where they were going today. When we hear what sounds like adults fighting on the porch , "shi.." Johnny says as we hear a knock on the door. Johnny runs up stairs, I answer the door and step outside so they can't see all the boys "hello." I say cheery "we are here for Johnny Cade." A drunk man says "he's our son." The mom adds in before grabbing the house to not fall over.
"Johnny Cade, I know him he goes to my school." I say as if he's not hiding somewhere in the house "we know he's in there, we need to see him." They say "he's not here." I say, they look at each other, sigh and walk off.
When I walk back in Darry greets me "never again." He says mad "if they saw you they would have know he was here." I say the others are looking at me, "what?" I ask "those were his parents." Soda says "I figured that out, what's wrong?" "You can never lie to parents." "Even if he has a bruise on his cheek, I won't be surprised if he ran when I was talking to them." They all nod and I walk up to find him.
I look everywhere and he's not here, sighing I walk out the door. Everyone but Two Bit was already gone.
Johnny POV
As soon as I heard their voices, I knew I had to run. Penelope noticed and answered the door, while I sprinted up stairs, Pony followed me "does this window open?" I ask, he says nothing but opens it real quick, "if I don't see you for awhile, I'm sorry." I say then jump onto a tree and run toward my house.
When I get there I hear nothing, "Rose!" I say looking everywhere for her, I find her hiding under a bed unconscious.
My heart stoped for a second, but I jumped into action. I grabbed her from under the bed and made sure she was still breathing. She was but barely, I got her cuts cleaned up real quick, then I see a bruise forming near her eye. I almost cry but can't even waist the time, I live a few houses down from the Curtises house so I peek out the door and my parents truck is gone, I grab Rose and bring her in their house.
When I get there I see Penelope and Two Bit, they both stare at me for a second when Penelope runs up stairs and grabs a first aid kit. She gives Rose stitches and checks out her eye. "She'll have trouble seeing out of this eye for a week, and she'll need to be in bed arrest for a week, other than that she should live." She says I feel a single tear slip down my cheek. She hugs me then gets back to Rose Two bit just stared at me then Rose and me and Rose. "Who is she, you sure do looks alike?" He says, "she's my sister." I say then feel a tear in my eye, I blink it away fast.
"Your what?" Two says again "my sister." I say while looking at her, she has a bruise on her eye and all over her, a whip mark on her arm and a cut running down her cheek leaking blood. "That will scar." I say and get on the ground to look at her better, I may not be religious but I had gone to church before. I look at Rose and say a quiet prayer that's she will be fine.
Peps POV
After I sit with Two watching Mickey Johnny runs in with a limp girl in his hands. I say nothing and run up to get the first aid kit. I stitch her up, and check out her eye. Johnny looks sad when I tell him the news. Turns out this girl is his sister.
Darry POV
After a long day of roofing I get out of the truck to a quiet house. Panic floods though me, I run in the house "what wrong?" I say as soon as I get in, I look around to everyone sitting around they look at me. That's when I see a little girl on the couch sleeping.
"Who's she?" I ask as I get down to check her out. "Johnny's sister, I guess."
