The new girl in the gang

Chapter 14

Johnny's POV

Me and Rose had to get up late because of what my parents did to me yesterday. Once we got up we walked to the Curtises house I see Penelope, "hey Penelope." I say she looks back at me, "did Dally get to you to?" She asks anger rushing through her "no we just got here." I say confused "will you take me to the park?" Rose asks "sure." Penelope says as some of her anger washes away. "See you in an hour." I yell "be safe." Both the girls roll their eyes at me.

When I walk in the Curtises house I'm carful not to let the door slam, I think I'm the only one that doesn't let it slam behind Pony. "What happens to you?" I ask as I see the whole gang looks beat up. "Can't tell Penelope, got it." Soda says, "yeah sure?" "Dally came in this morning, he was rambling on about how some socs are after him, patently he scratched their car this morning, so he ran in here and started being really loud and getting anger as he talked. Well Pony came in and asked him to be quiet and he sucker punched Pony right in the eye, I jump on him and ask him what the ell that was for, he throws me off and we got in a fight. He ran out though when Steve broke his nose." Soda says, I feel my eyes widen "Darry tried to stop him but he punched Darry in the arm." Pony adds in,                "R-really ?" I say stuttering they all nod their head when Darry called breakfast. "Don't worry he would never hurt you." Pony says obviously mad at Dally and taken it out in me.

I can't believe he would do that.

Peps POV

Rose asks to go to the park, after a moment hesitation I say yes thinking I could blow off some steam. Man was I wrong. "Watch me." Rose giggles as she skips a bar on the monkey bars.  I smile thinking about how me and Dally used to sneak in our neighbors old yard and play at their park. "Did you see? Did you?" Rose says all excited, "yes I did." I say trying to match her happiness. "Hey greaser." I hear form behind me, I look at Rose she looks scared, I grab my switch.

"Wanna go on a ride." A socs says as I turn around, "listen I have my little sister here and I don't want it have to deal with this." I say starring them dead in the eye, their were 2 and I could take 2 any day but Rose didn't need to be here. "Oh come on, she can come." The taller one says, "hey Rose how about you go home now ok." She nods and starts to walk off, "not so fast." One of the socs reaches for her I pull out my switch and hold it between them, Rose takes off running. "Please leave." I ask nicely "no, your the one who pulled a switch on us when we were just trying to ask you out." I roll my eyes "careful they might get stuck back there." The red hair one says.

I look to see how far Rose is and she far enough away I know she'll be fine, I didn't need more blood on my hands so I run away for my them. "Wait that's the girl that tore up my car a year ago, get her." One of them says and starts running at me, I run even faster, I can't help myself "you can't catch me I'm the ginger bread man." I say I stifle a laugh and run harder. All the sudden I turn at the Curtises house and run through their gate, "come get me." I say mocking them, the front door opens and most the gang walks out I hear their their knuckles, "I'm in the mood for a fight." Soda says right beside me, "how about a rumble." The black haired one says, "terms?" Darry asks, coming to the other side of me, "no knifes no chains, only 40 guys, you can have more if you want, and we bet." The guys behind me look at each other, "how much money?" Steve says, "if you win you get 500 dollars, and because we know you don't have that type of money, if we win we get the girl for one year." They says smiling at the end, I feel all eyes fall on me, "no." Darry says plainly, "you chickens, because word can go around real fast, and also you won't always have a house nearby to run to." The black haired one says, "one day I'll find you, and have to much fun with you." He says smirking at the end, "no deal we don't bet people." Darry says and I start back in side, the boys behind me.

I sit down, "anyone know where Dally went?" I ask as if they didn't just save my sole. "No idea, Penelope, I don't know about what Dally will think when he find out his sister just almost hit jumped." Darry says walking to his plate bin the floor by his chair. "I didn't though." I say annoyed, "where's Rose?" I hear Johnny ask, "what do you mean she did come back here right?" I ask getting worried, "yes but she said show the socs were at the park about to jump you, then she said she's going back for you." Johnny says getting scared at the thought. "What!" I scream in alarm, I'm about to run out the door when Darry holds me back, "stay here with Pony." He says then everyone else files out the door.

"Why do we have to stay." I scream, Pony looks sad "you don't think those socs would still be in our neighborhood would they?" He asks sounding scared, "I pray not." I say looking out the window, hopping to see a little girl walking down the street.

Johnny's POV

I can't lose Rose, I just wish that once we could have a happy life, "Rose I yell." Skidding to as stop at the park, I see Dally and the socs glaring daggers at each other then I see Randy holding Rose with a knife to her neck. "What's going on?" I yell, I'm usually so quiet but when it comes to Rose feel like I could talk all the time. "We want our rumble, this chicks to small we want out terms." Bob says, he smiles when he sees my anger. "Bob she's 6, let her go." Darry says as the gang comes behind me, Dally seems like he could murder and don't even forget what he did to the others this morning.

"No not until you agree, or I might start slicking her." He adds pushing his knife in her skin I see a drop of blood fall on the side walk, "Bob don't do this." Darry says trying to remain calm, I see Two, Soda, and Steve all planing something, "not until you agree, and because your being so stubborn I take it down to 400, your even lucky we're still offering to pay you." He says as he his knife moves a tiny bit, Rose screams in pain and my heart dies a little. I can't lose her but I know none of us will bet only Dally can do that, Dally looks at me "no knifes , no chains, only fists, in 1 week on Thursday, sundown." He says "Dally no." I choke out." I hate for the gang to see me cry but I feel tears building up in my eyes. "Oh but Dally yes, deal." Bob says and they shake on it then Bob and Randy run to their mustang.

I run over and grab Rose, "it's ok, it's ok." I say as she cry's in my jacket, "it's not, what about Penelope?" She chokes out before crying even more. "Well sh*t." Dally says then starts to walk back to the Curtises house "let me see her." Dally says, as I move aside he looks at her, "I think we have and old barbie  package of band aids." He says and try's to smile.

We have one week before we risk losing Penelope forever. I can hardly breathe.
