Mila and Lando were sat on the plane, heading out to Barcelona. it was difficult for Mila to fall back into her work routine as she couldn't remember what she had been doing. Charlotte took over for Mila until her memory was back. but she would be joining Lando because she was scared to go home alone.
Mila looked out of the window of the airplane, Lando was sat next to her as they were preparing to take off. They had spent a couple more days in Portugal but it was now time to head over to Barcelona. Mila was still recovering from her accident. She needed to rest so her concussion would subside but it was hard for her to sit still. She wanted to get back to work even though that was hard as she couldn't remember a single thing she was working on. Charlotte had taken over her duties for the tie being until Mila had her memory back and could go back to work. Mila had done minor tasks though, helping with answering emails but she was off media duty. She couldn't escort Lando to his interviews as that would bring too much pressure for her.
Lando grabbed Mila's hand, he could feel her leg bouncing up and down, indicating she was nervous. "Are you alright?" Mila just nodded, but Lando could sense that something was up. "Just tell me what's wrong, babe." Mila's heart fluttered at the name he just called her but she reminded herself that it was normal for them to call each other that. "I'm. just anxious, afraid something will go wrong when we are in the air." Lando showed her a sympathetic smile, "Everything will be alright, I'm here the whole time. You have never been afraid of flying, what changed?" Mila just shrugged her shoulders, "I guess I'm just a bit more scared after being in so many accidents. I'm just remembering small bits of the past two years and I'm afraid something will happen which makes me forget them again, which makes me forget about you." Lando brought their hands up to his mouth and kissed her knuckles. Even if you forget about me a thousand times, I will make sure to help you remember," Lando said with a smile as he kissed her tenderly. "I certainly hope I will not forget about you again, it makes me feel guilty like I'm doing you no justice. You have done so much for me, You helped me over my guilt about forgetting my parents and I just don't want to forget all the beautiful memories we made together."
When the couple arrived in Barcelona they went straight to the hotel. Mila jumped on the bed, feeling exhausted after the flight, she also felt slightly guilty, Lando had to take care of her while he also had to work. She didn't want to be a burden for him and keep him back. "Why don't you freshen up and then we need to go to the track," Lando said while he grabbed a Mclaren team polo out of his bag. Mila grabbed his wrist while he wanted to walk into the bathroom. "I think I will stay here today Lan," Lando looked confusingly at Mila, "You don't want to come to the track with me today?" Mila shook her head, "I feel like I'm holding you back when you need to take care of me. So if I just stay here, you don't have to worry about me."
Lando sighed, "Babe, you are everything but a burden to me. If you want to come to the track you can, I would love to have you by my side." Mila kissed Lando's cheek, "I will just stay here, I'm tired anyway so I will take a nap and watch the free practice from here." Lando pulled the clean shirt over his toned body. "Only if you are completely sure... But I will take you out for dinner tonight, alright? So make sure you get lots of beauty sleep." Mila nodded and ushered Lando out of the room, she knew he was late already.
When Mila woke up from her nap she sat on the balcony for a while, she had previously showered and put on a nice dress. She was scrolling through her phone, liking some posts on Instagram while looking at the stories of the people who were on track today. Mila hesitated but opened her camera roll. She scrolled through some pictures from the st couple of weeks. She came across some pictures of her at the track, with the girls from the media team and stopped when she saw a photo of her and Lando. Mila was smiling at the camera while Lando looked at her, a loving gaze covered his face while his lips pressed to her cheek. Memories came flooding back when she remembered it was one of their first dates. Lando had taken her on a stroll along the beach after dinner and he had just told her how beautiful she looked in the sunset. It was overwhelming for Mila to remember Lando and the sweet moment, it caught her off guard, but she was glad that small bits and pieces of her memory came back to her. Mila sighed, she couldn't wait for her memory to get back so she could get back to work and act as nothing had happened. She put her phone away and decided to read a bit of the book she brought, it was the notebook, her favorite book. She knew it was a cliche book but it was just heartwarming to read.
She was startled when she heard the door to the hotel room close, she closed her book and put it on the small coffee table. Lando called out for her and she just waved her hand in the opening of the balcony door so he could see her. "Hey, you are ready. What are you doing?" Mila pointed to the book, telling Lando that she had been reading for a bit. Lando sat down next to her on the small couch, "My smart girlfriend, reading for pleasure." Mila giggled, she grabbed her phone and searched for the picture she came across earlier. Mila showed her phone, making Lando smile as he took in the picture. "That was one of.." Mila cut Lando off, "One of our first dates, I know. I remember Lands," Lando got teary-eyed, "You called me Lands, and you remember the date." Mila nodded and stood up, throwing her phone on the couch she was previously sat on. "I know, I remember you, It might take a while before I remember everything completely. But I remember YOU!" Lando smiled, "I love you Lands, to the moon and back." Lando couldn't believe his ears, it was so special for him to hear her speak to him. It was something special that the two of them shared, kind of like their secret that no one knew about and Lando's heart swelled with pride every time he thought about it.
They just had a lazy evening, getting to bed early as it would be qualifying tomorrow and Lando had to be well-rested. They were laying next to each other in bed. The tv was playing some local sitcom, neither of them really watching but just enjoying the background noise. Lando was scrolling through his social media, commenting on some pictures, and interacting with some fans while Mila was reading another chapter in her book. Lando looked at his girlfriend, admiring how she looked in the dim, bedside light. She had her glasses on her nose, occasionally pushing them up as they were sliding down her nose. "I didn't know you wore glasses," Mila looked up from her book, taking her glasses off. She looked at the glasses before putting them down on the nightstand alongside her book. She turned off the nightlight and grabbed her phone, "I just wear them when I'm reading or when I'm working on my laptop for a long period of time, otherwise, I get a bad headache." Lando nodded and put his phone away, he turned on his side so he was facing Mila, "I like them, you look cute with them." Mila pecked Lando's lips briefly, "I love you, good night." Lando smiled as he took in the beautiful voice of his girlfriend. "I love you too, sleep well."
