A/N: Happy Friday! I'm on schedule again with the uploads so that really calms my mind. I hope everyone is having a nice summer break( if you have one) and staying save and healthy. I can't wait for F1 to start again but everyone deserves some time of every now and then. So I hope you like this new chapter, let know what you think!
Mila was laying down on one of the examining tables, her shirt was propped up and her pants undone.
Lando and Mila's hands were intertwined, Lando gave Mila a reassuring squeeze. Mila took in a sharp breath, "Cold..." she whispered, making Lando and the nurse laugh. "Sorry, I should have told you it would be cold, you will get used to it in a minute." The nurse clicked some buttons on the computer, a small dot was displayed on the big screen in front of them. All of a sudden the sound of a thumping, steady beat was heard throughout the room.Mila instantly got tears in her eyes, a few weeks ago she couldn't have thought that she wanted to be a mother, but right now she was the happiest woman in the world. "That's our baby, " Lando whispered in her ear as he wiped the tears away that escaped her eye. "Your baby looks very healthy, it is still early so I would advise an appointment every month. That means that around your second appointment after this one, we can figure out the sex of the baby, if you want to know, of course." Mila nodded her head, trying to take this all in. "I will print out some extra ultrasound photo's for you to take home. If you don't have any questions you are free to go. Don't forget to make your next appointment at the front desk."
Mila hopped of the examining table, buttoning her pants back up and tugging down her shirt. The soon-to-be parents walked out of the hospital together, a comfortable silence washed over them. "The team sends a car to pick us up and bring us to the airport, " Lando said after they walked out. "This is crazy right? We are going to be parents, we are going to have a baby." Mila could hear the excitement in Lando's voice, it made her smile. Lando pulled her in, his lips catching her own, Mila could feel Lando's smile through their kiss.
After all the checkups, Mila got discharged from the hospital and the two of them were sat in the airplane before they knew it. To Mila's surprise, she was way less anxious during the ride to the airport than she first thought, a plus for the day. The airplane was already descending, preparing for landing. Time had flown by but the day also felt like it had hundred hours today.
"It is crazy right, that we wouldn't have known you were pregnant if it wasn't for the accident. I mean I wish the accident didn't happen but it had a nice outcome right?" Mila smiled, "I love how you always see the positive sides of everything." Mila closed her eyes and rested her head against the headrest. She wanted to see the world more like Lando, more optimistic or with pink-colored glasses on. But the reality was that she was a thinker, she overthinks situations and finds it hard to just enjoy the moment. It made her think about the future, the future that was coming way quicker now with the baby, than they would have ever thought.
"Lan?" Mila whispered, she nudged Lando when the background noise of the airport was too loud for Lando to hear her. Lando looked up from his phone, "You alright darling?" Lando asked as he looked at his girlfriend who was fiddling with her sweater. "I..l think th.. that I want to go to therapy." Mila felt ashamed, ashamed to admit that she needs therapy, she also felt scared to admit it. She doesn't want to admit that she needs help, she wants to be alright, but she knows she isn't.
Lando's eyes soften, he grabs one of her hands, Mila tries to avoid his eyes. "Darling, look at me, if you think that you need to go to therapy then that is fine, no need to be ashamed." He put a strand of hair behind her ear, "I'm so proud of you Mils," Mila blushed, she didn't feel like someone to be proud of right now. Mila didn't feel like talking anymore so she grabbed her notepad out of her bag, "I just feel like I need to do this NOW, with time being pregnant. I want to be a good mother and I don't think I'm in the right mindset to be a good mother right now. I would feel guilty if our child gets bullied because their mother doesn't talk, I don't want to make its life harder than it already is going to be. I think I need to go to therapy to try and leave my past behind, to try and start talking again, become more confident in my own skin."
Lando was in awe with Mila right now, she was already putting the baby before herself, he couldn't be more proud of her right now. "I know that our baby will love you 110%, if you are talking or not. You will be the best mother ever, because you will love our baby, you will raise it with so much love and commitment that you don't need to say anything, our child will feel it. And I think that you only need to do therapy if it is for you, but you are going through with therapy, then I will be by your side every step of the way." Mila's heart swelled with love, she couldn't imagine her life without Lando anymore and that scared her a bit. But she knows that as long as Lando is with her, she can carry the weight of the world.
-When Lando and Mila arrived in France, they went straight to the hotel. The team was having dinner and as much as they wanted to head straight to bed, they knew that they needed to show their faces, let everyone know that they are alright. So they went upstairs to drop their bags off and take a quick shower. Mila was standing in the shower, her eyes closed as the water fell over her face, her head tilted back a little. Today's events finally took a toll, she felt like all her energy was drained from her body. The adrenaline rush was wearing off and we just felt exhausted, she wanted to see the team though, she wanted them to keep her mind busy.
Mila jumped when a pair of arms snaked around her waist, a lazy smile crept its way on her face. Lando nuzzled his face in her neck, kissing and sucking small love bites on her neck and shoulders. Mila let her head rest on Lando's shoulder while her body was enveloped by his. "Are you alright darling? It has been a hectic day." Mila just hummed, "You tired?" Mila could only answer with a hum once again, She was too tired to talk right now. Mila turned around in Lando's embrace, her arms lazily wrapped around his neck. Mila stood up on her tippy toes, their noses brushed lightly while their lips grazed over each other. "We will be quick alright? And when we come back we will cuddle and maybe I will give you a little massage." Land mumbled against Mila's lips. She just lovingly kissed his lips, enjoying the peaceful moment before it would be destroyed by the mayhem caused by the team.
"Baby?" Land questioned while they were both getting dressed. Lando was wearing sweats and a t-shirt while Mila put on a flowy dress. Mila turned to Lando, her face telling him to keep on talking. "We haven't discussed if we want to tell everyone about the baby yet." Mila thought about it for a minute, it would be easier to tell everyone but she also wanted it to be their thing for a while. "Secret," was the only thing Mila said, "I was hoping you would say that, I can't wait to tell everyone but I would like to enjoy the news together for a while." Mila nodded, she grabbed her purse and put the room key in it along with her phone and wallet.
Mila's hand had a tight grip on Lando's when they approached the restaurant the team was having dinner at. Lando could sense that Mila was nervous, he knew that she liked the silence right now and just wrapped his arm around her.
Cheers erupted around the table when the pair approached the team. Mila and Lando greeted everyone before sitting down in the middle of the table. "I'm so glad everything is alright, you are fine right?" Charlotte asked, a concerning look covered her face. Mila just smiled and nodded, feeling at home when everyone wanted to make sure that they were safe. "It was a stupid minor accident, the only damage is on the cars, so that is fixable." Happy chatter flowed around the table while the team ate some more. "Are you guys sure you don't want anything to eat?" Daniel asked, Mila, shook her head, "We ate at the airport, we're fine, thanks," Lando finished for the both of them.
The table fell silent when Mila abruptly stood up from the table, confused looks were exchanged amongst the team members. Lando pushed his chair back, "I will check up on her, I will be right back." Lando knocked on the door from the bathroom before walking in, "Mils? You alright darling?" He could see Mila bowled over the toilet bowl, spilling her guts out. "I thought it was supposed to be morning sickness?" Lando joked, trying to lift the mood. He handed Mila a tissue so she could wipe her mouth, "you okay?" Mila nodded after she rinsed her mouth with some water. "Why don't you head upstairs and head into the bed, It has been a long day. I will tell everyone we are in for an early night." Mila gratefully smiled and kissed Lando's cheek, they parted ways in the hall as Lando made his way back into the restaurant.
"We are going to head upstairs guys, it has been a long day." Agreements could be heard, "Is Mila alright?" Daniel asked, "she just threw up, she had a minor concussion so that could explain it," Daniel nodded. "Well goodnight guys, I will see you tomorrow."
