FIRST ADVENTURE?
P A R T T W OAsterin's POV:
I didn't think that following the Doctor down a slightly creepy alleyway would end up with me being kidnapped. I mean I didn't think I would ever stroll down the streets of a United Kingdom spaceship in the future, it isn't exactly what I thought I was going to be doing after a good ole police chase. I mean who would ever think that would be what they end up doing in the night. But after all, the universe just loves to prove me wrong, and both of those things have happened.
Now I'm sat here, not with BBQ sauce on my titties, in a seat in a small ass room with one of those creep fucking booth things and four small screens layered on each other forming a square. Three buttons lay underneath the screens, two circles and one rectangle the circles saying 'forget' and 'protest'; the rectangle had 'record' written on it. A computer-like voice enters the room travelling from the speakers.
"Welcome to voting cubicle 330B"
"Voting cubicle what?" I whisper standing up from the leather chair.
"Please leave this installation as you would wish to find it. The United Kingdom recognises the right to know of all its citizens." the voice continues, I walk over to the screens, trailing a hand across the table and buttons.
"What the fuck?" I whisper, walking around the room before sticking my tongue out at the creepy ass man/doll booth person. "Creepy mother fucker."
"A presentation concerning the history of the Starship UK will begin shortly. Your identity is being verified on our electoral roll." the screen changes the word ' RESULTS' appearing at the top. Followed shortly by:'Name: ASTERIN LILY BELMONT' I huff as my full name is read out through the speaker.
'Age: ...' the machine pauses I sit down in the chair leaning back as I wait. 'UNKNOWN' is read through the speaker.
"What?!" I say tilting my head in confusion. The screen changes to another piece of information.
'Marital Status: ...' I lean forwards awaiting the answer. To my disappointment though the speaker announces 'UNKNOWN'.
"A load of use you were." I grumble, all I got was my name. Rolling my eyes I watch the screen change. A man appears, old with glasses and white hair and beard.
"You are here because you want to know the truth about this Starship and I am talking to you because you are entitled to know. When this presentation has finished you will have a choice you may either protest or forget... If you choose to protest understand this. If just 1% of the population of this ship do likewise, the program will be discontinued, with consequence for you all. If you choose to accept the situation - and we hope you do - the press the 'forget' button. All the information will be erased from your memory and you can continue your life on Starship UK as before." the man stops talking as a video begins to play. Images of children crying, the sun burning, explosions, death. Babies and families dying. A whale, the ship being created. Flash before my eyes, tears roll down my face, the gravity of the situation pushing down on my heart. If I press forget I won't remember but the poor animal (well alien) will suffer, if I press protest the entire of the UK will die.
"I'm so sorry." I whisper, slamming my hand down on the chosen button. The 'Protest' button turns red before the floor starts moving. I back up to a wall, watching as the booth mans face changes, his head spinning, his new face an angry scowl, his eyes red and a wide teeth showing frown. The floor splits in half and disappears. I release a short scream as I'm dropped down into the black abyss. "MOTHER FUCKERS!!!" I yell as the I drop. My heart in my mouth.
Well. I guess that's one way to bring down the government.
Doctors POV:
"You know after all these years, or with how clever Asterin seemed to be you would think she understood not to run off. God it's like they lose all sense of common knowledge and self safety when they travel." I mutter, rambling to myself in frustration. Following the small tracking device Liz 10 gave me I wander through corridor after corridor in hope of either stumbling upon a lost Asterin or Amy with the small girl. I get closer to the small dot on the screen which represents Pond. As I turn the last corner I see the small girl sat outside a door on a bench she looks up just in time to see me and the door open.
Running over I see Amy stood there with a blank look. Amy's voice repeating something in the background.
"Amy. What have you done?" I ask watching as she presses a button, cutting of her voice before turning to me. I glance at her before walking over.
"I can't remember." she mumbles, glancing to Mandy. Standing on the chair I point my screwdriver st the light on the roof, reading the result before turning to the two.
"Yeah your basic memory wipe job. Must have erased about 20 minutes." Shoving my screwdriver in my jacket pocket before jumping down.
"But why would I choose to forget?" Amy retorts, crossing her arms.
"Cos everyone does. Everyone chooses the 'forget' button." The little girl states. Spinning both Amy and I stare at the human.I walk over bending down so I'm at the same height as her before asking, "Did you?"
"I'm not eligible to vote yet. I'm 12. Any time after your 16, your allowed to see the film and make your choice. And then one ever five years..."
I cut her off my thought running rampid. "And once every five years, everyone chooses to forget what they've learned. Democracy in action." Sending a cheeky grin to Mandy I spin to face Amy who watched me with a curious look."How do you not know about this, are you Scottish too?" Mandy asks giggling slightly.
"Oh I'm way worse than Scottish.I can't even see the movie. Won't play for me." I reply smiling as I scan the screens.
"It played for me." Amy chirps.
"Well the difference being the computer doesn't accept me as human."
"Why not?" Amy asks, I spin staring at her dumfound. Why not? Why not?! "You look human." she continues.
"No, you look Time Lord. We came first." I reply, bit off by the assumption I was human.
"So there are other Time Lords, yeah?" she asks, wincing internally I look up.
"No, there were, but there aren't.... Just me now." I pause, looking at her confused expression. Huffing I continue "Long story. There was a bad day. Bad stuff happened, and you know what? I'd love to forget it all, every last bit of it, but I don't. Not ever. Cos this is what I do - every time, every day, every second. This." I gradually get more excited as a plan forms. "Hold tight. We're bringing down the government." I slam my hand down on the 'protest' button. Gripping Amy's hand as we back up to one wall, the floor splitting in two. The door slams shut as the Booth man's face forms into a dark scowl with sharp teeth and blood red eyes. "Say, wheeeeee!" I shout."Aaaaaarggh!" Amy yells as we both fall into the pit.
