Precious Virtue
Chapter III: Kingly Charms
[Preston's POV]
For the rest of the week, it was orientation week. The day after we moved in there had been a dance battle pep rally, which had kick-started orientation week, and the rest of the events that followed over the next seven days. There were presentations, some specific to certain majors and programs, and there were also a bunch of game-type events that had been fun to attend. It was a week spent getting closer with my roommates, and meeting other first-years who were in the same program as I was.
Tonight specifically, was the final night of orientation week. We would be meeting up with our RA's and our assigned resident groups for more games before having dinner at one of the dining halls on campus. Then, there was going to be a concert held outside at the large open grass field in the middle of campus at around 9:30 PM.
"I swear, Elijah. If you run my foot over with the cart one more time," Blaire stopped in the middle of the aisle to narrow her eyes at him. He stopped pushing the cart around, to which he accidentally bumped her in the foot, making her glare harder at him. He smiled innocently.
"Uhhhh, oopsies?"
"Elijah!"
"I'm sorry!" He exclaimed, "this is why you don't put me in charge of the cart!"
"Yeah, clearly. Remind me when someone asks you to drive too," She retorted. Elijah gasped, placing his hand on his chest in feigned hurt.
"How dare you judge my driving skills!"
Blaire laughed, smirking at him, "well, you can't even push a cart. What makes you think I'm gonna trust you behind a wheel?"
"I'm deeply hurt by your accusation," Elijah said.
Before Blaire could retort, I cut in, tossing a tub of ice cream and a box of frozen pizza into the cart, "here's an idea, why don't I just push the cart? That way you won't have to deal with Elijah's horrible cart pushing skills."
"You know what? That's a great idea, Preston," Blaire nodded her head. I chuckled, while Elijah just pouted at us both.
"You guys are so mean. Why was it decided that you guys would be my roommates?"
I shrugged, smiling crookedly at him as I walked over to his side, and patted him on the back, "you just have back luck, I guess."
Elijah shook his head. He stuck his tongue out at me, but I merely smiled innocently at him as he stepped away from the cart, walking alongside me as I started to push the cart down the frozen food aisle. Blaire walked in front of us as we left the frozen aisle, heading down to meet up with Primrose and Flores as they had walked off into the junk food aisle. Aka, where all the cookies and the muffins and all the other good stuff were.
"There you two are!" Blaire exclaimed when we reached the junk food aisle, Flores carrying a box of maple cookies and a couple of bags of chips, while Primrose was holding a box of chocolate croissants.
"Are those chocolate croissants?" Elijah asked.
"Mhm! They're called pain au chocolat back in France," Primrose nodded, "you guys have to try them, they're so good! I eat one for breakfast every morning with my coffee."
"Well, they look really fucking good, so I might have to try one," Elijah laughed.
Primrose and Flores put their stuff into the cart. After venturing around the rest of the grocery store, picking up different food items, we paid for our items at the cash register, each of us pitching in some cash.
