Chapter V: The Freckle Under His Eye

[Adrien's POV]

The next couple of weeks were spent going to class, hanging out with my roommates, and having lunch with Luka almost every day, whether that being at one of the dining halls on campus, or just sitting out on the grass with homemade lunches.

I really enjoyed hanging out with Luka. He was a nice guy, and we had a lot of things in common, which meant we had a lot to talk about. The more I knew about him, the more I liked him.

He was a visual arts major with an interest in painting and drawing like I was, so we had multiple classes together. He wanted to make painting his career, just like I did, and oh, he loved cats. I also learned that he has an older brother who is a teacher and that he is still living at home with his parents instead of staying in a dorm, considering he only lives fifteen minutes away from the University.

I haven't been to his house yet, but he promised me that one day he would show me his artwork. I've seen some of the work that he's done in class so far, and they're incredible, so I can only imagine what his other artworks might look like.

Luka and I were currently hanging out on campus grounds, sitting on the grass underneath a large tree. I had a sketchbook open on my lap with a pencil in hand, drawing a quick picture of Luka.

It was a windier day. The wind gently brushed the strands of Luka's dirty blonde hair, making him look all the more photogenic. He was leaned back against the tree, admiring the scenery around him, giving me a lovely view of his side profile. As I sketched him, I made sure to take in every detail of his face. His sharp jawline, the piercings on his ear, the single freckle resting under his left eye. The way his eyes squinted as he looked up at the sunny sky. I captured all of it.

He wore a casual navy blue button t-shirt, leaving the top buttons undone. His jeans were light washed and ripped at the knees, and a silver necklace dangling from his neck. All I could say was that it was a pleasure to draw him because he was a great model.

"Are you almost finished?" Luka asked. I lifted my head, smiling softly.

"Almost. Just hold on a bit longer."

Luka hummed in answer, staying put in the position he was sitting in. I spent the next couple of minutes sketching, before I finally finished, smiling down at my work in satisfaction.

"Alright, I'm done."

"Thank god," Luka groaned, sitting up straighter. He shook out his arms and stretched his legs.

I laughed, smiling crookedly at him. Luka turned and flashed me a grin. Then, he shuffled closer to me, leaning over my shoulder to take a look at the sketch.

"Wow, it already looks amazing," Luka commented. A light blush coated my cheeks.

"You think so?" I glanced up at him. Luka's eyes met mine, and he chuckled.

"Of course I think so. I can't wait to see the finished product. It's going to look great."

I hummed and nodded. My stare didn't falter, and I ended up staring at Luka for a moment longer, but his gaze didn't move either. We ended up just quietly looking at each other for another full minute, before I cleared my throat and looked away, and pulled out my phone.

"I have class in like, ten minutes," I said, looking at the time on my phone screen before I started packing my art stuff back into my bag.

Luka nodded and stood up, holding his hand out to me. I shrugged my bag over my shoulder and took his hand, thanking him as he helped me stand up from the grass.
