Precious Virtue
Chapter XLIV: Ring Pops
[Preston's POV]
I woke up to the feel of soft fingers running through my hair, scratching down the crown of my head and down the nape of my neck, and then up again. Tingles exploded the back of my head and spine, causing me to shiver.
When I opened my eyes, I stretched with a groan and slowly rolled onto my back. My eyes fell on Adrien, head perched up on his elbow as he smiled down at me.
"Good morning." He greeted. I let out a yawn, covering my mouth with my hand.
"How long have you been awake?" I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Adrien shrugged, brushing a single strand of hair out of my face.
"Not long, ten minutes, maybe?"
"And so you decided to play with my hair while I slept?"
"You looked so peaceful, I couldn't resist." He laughed softly. "Plus, your hair is soft."
"Yeah? Well, I think yours is way softer," I insisted. In one swift motion, I rolled onto my side and grabbed Adrien by the waist, tugging him beneath me. He shrieked, a soft gasp escaping him from how fast I moved. I caged him in my arms, holding him against me, and pinned him to the bed with my body. I ruffled my hand through his hair, messing his curls, and he lay there laughing helplessly, hands gripping my shoulders.
"You're really fucking heavy, and you're fucking warm. I'm starting to sweat," Adrien huffed, pressing his hands on my bare chest.
"Am I?" I teased, pressing more of my body weight on him. Adrien groaned, shoving at my chest.
"Prestonnn," Adrien whined. "You're crushing me."
"You don't like my cuddles?"
"Not when there's like over 200 pounds of pure muscle piled on top of me." He flashed me a playful glare. I smirked. He looked so cute under me, with his non-threatening glare and his cheeks blushed red. I craved to pinch his cheeks and kiss his lips.
I pushed off of him and laid back down on the bed, pulling him with me so that he was now the one lying on top of me. I gripped my arm around his waist, Adrien's chest pressed against mine.
"Is this better?" I asked. Adrien hugged his arms around my torso, his leg hiked over my hips.
"Mhmm, much better." He purred, laying his cheek against my chest. I chuckled softly.
We lay in comforting silence, taking pleasure in each other's warmth and closeness. The weight of Adrien's body on top of mine was soothing. It slowed the beat of my heart and steadied my breathing. I nearly closed my eyes and fell back asleep from how nice it felt.
I slid my hand underneath Adrien's shirt and pressed my palm flat against his warm back. I dragged my fingers over his spine, drawing circles and other shapes against his skin, goosebumps littering where I touched. His chest rose and fell against mine, his soft breath tickling my bare chest.
"Are you feeling better this week?" Adrien asked several minutes later, voice soft. He tilted his head back so that he was staring up at me, his hand resting against my right pec.
"Yeah I am, now that midterms are over, finally. Though, I'm still stressed with all the stuff that I have due. Just like last semester, the final few weeks are so goddamn busy." I answered with a heavy sigh.
Adrien smiled at me encouragingly, "You'll get through it, I know you will. There's only two and a half more weeks of class left before exams start, and then it'll be summer break. A four-month break at that. You'll be able to relax and focus on your recovery more by then."
