Chapter XLVIII: Chromatic Kiss

[Preston's POV]

My brain was broken.

I couldn't forget the kiss Adrien and I shared last night. The way he crawled over to me, grabbed me by the face, and pressed his lips against mine without any sort of hesitation—my heart raced thinking about it. I could barely even comprehend that it happened despite being kept up all night thinking about it—was I fucking dreaming or was this real life?

No, I wasn't dreaming. He kissed me. Adrien actually kissed me last night.

Fuck, I couldn't believe Adrien kissed me. He kissed me. I hadn't expected him to do that. If anything, I thought that I would have been the one to kiss him first, not the other way around.

But I wasn't complaining. It caught me off guard in the best way possible.

"Are you okay?" I blinked and turned my gaze to Elijah as he placed a hot mug of coffee on the counter in front of me.

"Adrien kissed me last night." I blurted out. Elijah's lips parted, his eyes slightly widening.

"He did?"

"Yeah." I wrapped my fingers around my coffee mug, watching the hot steam curl out of it. "It completely caught me off guard. We fucking made out too. Fuck! I'm losing my mind here, Elijah."

Elijah smiled crookedly. He picked up his own coffee mug, taking a slow, careful sip. "What are you gonna do now?"

"I don't know. My brain is all over the place—I can't think properly. I think he broke my brain. I didn't sleep a wink last night."

"Well, you're gonna need another cup of coffee, that's for sure." Elijah laughed. He poured more coffee beans into the Keurig. The corners of my lips twitched as I blew off the steam and carefully sipped my regular coffee.

As Elijah was brewing a second cup of coffee for me, footsteps descended the stairs, followed by a commotion of chatter. When I turned my head, mug still attached to my lips, I noticed Luka and Adrien making their way down. They stopped their chatting when they noticed Elijah and me mingling in the kitchen and made their way over.

"Morning guys," Luka greeted, raking his fingers through his dirty blonde hair. "You guys ready for the festival tonight?"

"Not in the slightest," Elijah joked with a laugh. "I'm still scared that I'm gonna fuck up and embarrass myself."

"You're not going to mess up. You'll do great, I know you will." Luka offered him a reassuring, charming smile. Elijah nodded his head slowly, returning Luka's smile with one of his own, a subtle blush creeping over his cheeks.

My heart fluttered hard at the sight of Adrien. He was still dressed in what he wore to bed last night—an oversized shirt with cats on it and shorts. Fuck, I really didn't know how to act. No one's ever made a move on me like Adrien did, I always made the first move, and now, I didn't know what I was supposed to do.

But fuck, I really wanted to kiss him again.

"Did you sleep okay?" Adrien asked, pulling me from my thoughts. I blinked and met his gaze, my brain nearly turning to mush again.

"Hm? Oh....yeah, kind of," I responded, clearing my throat. Adrien smiled crookedly, an amused look on his face.

"Kind of?"
