~Next Day~
"Are you happy with this training plan for the incoming cadets?" Erwin asked Levi.
He set his papers down and leaned back from his desk. Levi was holding his teacup at shoulder height as if he was frozen.
"Levi." Erwin sighed and pinched the bridge if his nose. "Would you let it go already?'
"I have. I was just thinking about a conversation I overheard among some of the cadets earlier. I only heard bits and pieces.
Erwin glared at Levi, unamused.
"Something Y/N... what an ass..."
The wooden pen in Erwin's hand creaked.
"Another man said something about bending her over a table. A train may have been mentioned, but I can't figure out what they meant. Any ide-"
The pen splintered in the middle, and pieces sprinkled to the floor. Levi tilted his head ever so slightly and smirked.
"Interesting." Levi finally brought his cup to his mouth.
Erwin flicked the slivers of wood out of his hand and looked at the ink that stained his hand. He pushed his chair back to stand up.
"Fuck off, Levi," Erwin said as he walked to the door.
"For what it's worth."
Erwin paused
"I actually did hear her telling Reiner what happened." Levi paused, but continued when Erwin didn't object. "She was... far from upset about feeling your dick against her."
Erwin scoffed and stormed out of his office. He could hear Levi snicker as he made his way to Hange's lab.
Y/N was hunched over a microscope; her focus shifting from it to the notebook in which she was scribbling. She had been working under Hange for two years now. Y/N's mother was a botanist, so she grew up wanting to become one as well. Hange's work wasn't exactly the kind of work her mother does, but it was intriguing enough that she didn't mind. Though her room was notoriously full of plants.
The door creaked open behind her, while she continued examining the specimen to take her notes.
"Did you find him, Hange?" Y/N called and began noting her observations.
A gasp sounded behind Y/N causing her to jump. She spun around so quickly that she knocked her journal on the ground. Erwin stepped forward and bent down to retrieve the journal. The door to the lab closed behind him. With it in hand, he stood back up and flipped through the neat and organized notes.
"So, you work with Hange?" Erwin asked.
"Yes, for about two years now."
Erwin chuckled. "Your notebook looks nothing like hers."
He closed it and handed it back to her. Y/N reciprocated his laugh and thanked him.
"I'll take that as a compliment. Her notes are nauseating if I'm being honest."
This pulled his mouth into a smirk; a few grin ales formed at the corners of his eyes. It was so rare to see the Commander smile. It made Y/N's heart flutter. She noticed the silence and grew a little anxious.
"Are you here to see Hange?" Y/N asked, though she immediately regretted it.
The question seemed to snap Erwin out of a daydream. The smile faded from his mouth; his usual stoicism returned to his face. He cleared his throat.
