"Welcome, Commander Smith." The owner of the bed and breakfast bowed her head then turned to Y/N. "Mrs. Smith," she said then tipped her head again with a smile. "It's wonderful to finally meet you."

"Oh," Y/N blushed a little as she stood holding hands with Erwin.

He squeezed her hand. "Mrs. Becker, this is my girlfriend, Y/N L/N," he introduced her.

"Oh?" The older woman looked confused. "I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood."

Her already wrinkled forehead, creased more as her eyebrows drew together. A single braid of grey hair fell down her back, and she wore a tan dress with a faded blue apron.

"You're very lucky to have such a thoughtful boyfriend," she put a weird inflection on 'boyfriend.'

Y/N smiled up at Erwin. "You're right about that, Mrs. Becker."

Mrs. Becker clapped her hands once. "Well! You'll let me know if you need anything, right?"

"Of course," Erwin answered.

It was Y/N's turn to look confused.

Doesn't she live here?

"I'll be going then." She opened the door and smiled again. "I hope you enjoy your stay."

Y/N turned on Erwin the second the door clicked closed. "Where is she going?"

"I rented the whole bed and breakfast," Erwin said matter of fact.

Y/N scoffed in disbelief. "What?"

"Come on," Erwin shrugged off her question. He grabbed her hand and led her up the stairs.

On the second floor, there were two hallways that stretched in opposite directions. Y/N followed Erwin to the right, and they walked to the end of the hallway.

"Does she not live here?" Y/N asked.

"She does," Erwin stopped in front of the door. "I paid her to stay with a friend." He leaned forward and grazed his lips against her ear as he said, "We're entirely alone. You can scream as loud as you want."

He licked a stripe up the side of her neck, then he pulled back and stood up. His fingers turned the doorknob, and he pushed the door open. Y/N was shocked at what she saw.

Almost every flat surface in the room held a thick, white candle waiting to be lit. The white comforter was peppered with red and orange flower petals. On the bedside table, three bottles of wine stood tall amongst the rest of the decorations.

Y/N stepped past Erwin and into the room; he remained in the doorway, giving her space to explore. On a small table in one corner, Y/N found a basket full of her favorite pastries. He remembered. Tears welled in her eyes as she continued to the attached bathroom. There she found a wide and deep bathtub. Y/N noted it for later when she wasn't feeling so weepy. There were somehow more white candles and stacks of plush towels.

Erwin started to get a little nervous; she hadn't spoken since he opened the door. He was trying to be patient and remain neutral. The last thing he expected was for her to walk out of the bathroom with a tear welling up and spilling over her cheek.

"Y/N??" The alarm was evident in his voice. I pushed it too far. I should've kept it simple, Erwin scolded himself.

Y/N barreled across the room and slammed into his chest.

"Oof!" The force of her hug knocked the air from his lungs, and he stumbled back.

Her shoulders quaked as she took a shaky breath. Her embrace calmed some of Erwin's anxiety, but he still didn't understand why she was crying.
