Y/N and Erwin walked out of the stables hand in hand. The air was cooler today, so they each had their Scout trench coats on over their clothes. Her free hand was tucked into her jacket pocket to avoid the crisp air.

"Would you mind taking the long way to our room?" Erwin asked.

Y/N beamed; she loved being outside, especially when it wasn't sweltering. She brought his hand to her lips and planted an exaggerated kiss on the back of his hand. "Lead the way."

The last few days with Erwin had Y/N feeling happier than she had ever been. She felt like her soul was buzzing, and she couldn't stop smiling. Y/N from a year ago would be so annoyed by present me, Y/N laughed to herself imagining the two women meeting. Past Y/N would have no time for my happy bullshit.

Y/N looked up at Erwin and remembered him leaning over her in the kitchen this morning. She looked down quickly to hide her blush. Erwin smirked; he saw her out of the corner of his eye, and he knew exactly why she was blushing. I finally got to fuck her in a kitchen. Erwin took a deep breath while he remembered how delicious she looked spread out on the table. He shook his head, Focus.

They turned around a corner of Headquarters, and Erwin's heart raced. Y/N did a double take when she saw the long, rectangular building between Headquarters and the line of trees. She had walked this path countless times, and where the building stood had only ever been grass. Y/N couldn't fathom how she had missed an entire building being built. And a greenhouse at that.

She immediately recognized that it was a greenhouse by the large panes of glass that were held together by a thin, black, metal framework. Y/N had wanted a greenhouse for as long as she could remember, but Paradis didn't have enough land for that to be anything more than a dream. I would have known if the Scouts got a greenhouse, right?

"Erwin, what the fuck is that?"

While she had stopped walking, Erwin had continued. He ushered her to walk with him but didn't answer her question. Y/N followed him, but she couldn't decide between running past him to investigate and slowly lagging behind him.

As they approached, Y/N could make out the little ornate spikes that pointed up one after the other along the peak of the roof. The entryway protruded from the middle of the long wall that faced Headquarters. Erwin opened the door and stood to the side, welcoming her in.

"Erwin, when did this get here?"

"Come in and have a look," Erwin ushered her forward. "It was just finished today."

Y/N shuffled forward slack jawed. She looked up and over the trees to the cloudy sky through the crystal-clear glass. Two shelves looped around the entire room; the only break was for the door. The lower shelf was just above waist height. It stuck out further from the wall than the higher shelf which was just above Y/N's head.

Two long, wooden tables stood in a single line down the center of the room. Y/N stood between the two tables that stretched out to her left and right. She looked down the length of the table to her right and noticed the shorter wall had four cabinets under the lowest shelf for storage.

From the ceiling, long, skinny rods hung horizontally to support hanging plants.

What felt like a lifetime ago, Y/N complained to Erwin about not having the structure to support hanging plants. Is this for me? It's not, right?

As she turned to face the left side of the greenhouse, everything was perfectly symmetrical. Until she saw the left-hand wall. Instead of cabinets, there was a small circular end table tucked in between two chairs with plush, green cushions.
