"I trust you"
Those three words won't stop swirling around. She trusts me. A female who was robbed of her own body, who has spent two years living in a library, trusts me. Why this information is so shocking, why it means so much ...
"small steps"
Holy crap, she's trusting me. She's making a step back into the world. I feel myself fill with some pride knowing that she wants me to be part of this journey for her. That she see's me as a male to trust. After that night I always just assumed that she wouldn't want anything to do with me. I don't want to be a reminder of her pain.
"I trust you"
"I'm glad Nesta is spending time with the girls again. She missed them" Cass took him out of his trance, once again.
"It's been a week, let the girl breath" Amren's cool voice cuts in.
"Speaking of girls, where are they?" Mor looks at Cass and I, as if I would have any idea.
"They're getting ready. Ness asked for some more time, she's having Gwyn do her hair or something like that. We should probably head up to grab them" I can feel myself somewhat smile as I recall the shape of Nesta's hair and the casual way he's inferring it will take another female on top of Ness to get that shit sorted.
"I'm excited to get to know Gwyn" Feyre's comment for some reason surprises me. I'm sure they'll get along just fine. A small smile almost forms thinking of the potential trouble those two could get into.
We make make our way towards the open balcony when Cass looks at me, "I don't remember anything being on my face"
"Well shadowboy is it? You gonna tell me what's got your panties in a twist?" How he knows the shadowboy name I have no clue but why do we need to talk about this. I'm glad I have my brother but there are some things that just feel wrong to say. Like talking out loud about Gwyn. Talking in general always feels wrong but her?
"Nothings wrong" is all I push out before jumping off the landing, "Race you to the top"
I fly forward and take a move from Emerie's playbook, surprise time it is.
Instead of using my shadows to push me forward I send them backward, right into Cass's face. Cassian's shout is all the conformation I need that he took it and stalled. My feet dig into the houses balcony right as Cassian's wings come into view. "Cheat" is all he mumbles while the girls walk out.
"I'm glad mine won" Gwyn prounces out with a smirk, making her way to me. I think I forgot to breath. She is not in her leathers that I've ignored and she's not in her robes. The dress is emerald green and is now my favorite color. It hugs her and flows around her. She looks like a goddess. An entitled goddess.
"Mine"
She called me hers and it is taking everything in me not to let my arousal show.
"Small steps"
"I trust you"
She doesn't want me, not like that. Breath, Breath, Breath.
"Hello Shadowsinger" Her teals eyes flick up to me and the most innocent of smiles play on her face. How does she make an innocent smile look wicked?
"Hello Priestess" I could hear how deep my voice went and I'm praying to the Goddess infront of me she doesn't notice.
Her eyes go stormy and she steps back. Shit
"Your chariot awaits" I place my arm out like a gentlemen hoping I haven't ruined all the progress she's just made. She takes a deep breath and looks back up at me. Noticing now that I tower over her is not the best timing. Not when I'm trying to make her comfortable. She takes another breath and slowly she reaches out her hand and places it on mine.
I freeze.
If I needed a cold bucket of water I just got one. I don't know how she notices but she looks at me with concern, "Is this okay?"
I guess its my turn to take a breath. "Of course, are you ready?" I move closer to her to try to get her hand to move from mine, anywhere but there. The only thing that did was pull her close enough to smell and if she didn't look good enough already her smell was enough to drive me crazy. Why do I need to see this now? She does not need me doing this to her, not when it's not on her terms.
She squeezes my hand gently and then places it around her waist, the way it was resting earlier. "I like this" was all she said. She let go of my hand only to smooth it on her side. It's not a romantic touch but it's a touch. I feel like I'm going to start shaking, she's placing so much trust in me, she likes my touch.
Deep Breath
"Are you ready to go Cass?" When I turn to see the mates progress I see that they're currently in the house and he's definitely not helping her hair. Gwyn just chuckles and turns to me. "They've been away from each other for a third of a day, lets give them some space"
That's all the confirmation I need to tuck her in and lift off.
