It was a happy vacation. It really was. After Christmas, I hang out a lot with my friends. And of course, with Gray. I’ve never been happier this season. Well, I still have to work on loads of take home school papers that will be pass by the school starts again. I’ve already finished my Literature and Biology papers. I still have to work out on Algebra, in which my professor / boyfriend gives a lot.
“Are you done?” He asked. He is beside me, here in our house, while I’m doing these tons of problem set he has given.
I rolled my eyes. “How can I even finish this? You’ve given you’re students ten problem sets!”
He just laughed at me. “Because I haven’t given your class homework. And that’s counted as your quiz. It will be added to your grades. I know you can do it.”
“That’s not fair!” I whined. I looked at the papers and I still have three blank problem sets to work on. “Students are supposed to have fun, not do their homework while on vacation.”
“Well, Juvia, that’s the problem with students today. They relaxed too much that when the time school starts they barely remember what they have learned. And then, they barely passed my exams.”
I looked at him and raised my eyebrow on him. “You should understand us. You’re once a student too!”
He laughed again. “I know. But I always passed my exams even if I got drunk or wasted.”
I frowned. Okay, he’s one smartass. “Fine.”
He laughed at me again and touched my forehead. “There,” he encircled his thumb in my forehead, “You shouldn’t be stressing about this, Juvia. You should not frown.”
I sighed. “I’m just tired and these are too many. Are you even checking this all?”
He let out a laugh and smiled before speaking. “Of course, I am. Look how patient I am with these papers.” He then showed me all the papers he is checking. I even saw my paper on those. “I am patiently checking their works because I can’t understand what their method is using in those simple equations.” He let out one paper and showed it to me. It’s one of my classmate’s papers. I am not a Math nerd but it was really a simple equation. I’m sure I answered that correctly in my exams.
He laughed when he saw my reaction. The answer was really disturbing and confusing. “Yeah, that’s probably my reaction when I saw that. See, it’s just fair, Juvia. I give students shits and they give me shits, too.”
I laughed with him. Okay, I understand. It’s just fair. “Hey, stop cussing. Fine, then, it’s just fair for the both of us.”
I glanced at my paper and tried to work on it again. “I think I’m going to do this without whining. I’m giving my professor some good shits.”
He laughed as I laughed. Then, I was surprised when he kissed my cheek. “Now, baby, you stop cussing.”
“5, 4, 3,…” I joined them as we counted down from the midnight. “…2…1”
“Happy New Year!” Everybody yelled and raised their cups in the air. We laughed as we cheered in happiness. It is New Year!
Then I turned to my side, seeing him. He smiled and kissed me lightly in the lips. I kissed him back too.
“Happy new year!” He said. I smiled.
“Yeah, happy new year!” I felt his arm over my shoulder as we watched the fireworks from the sky. I sighed. “New year, huh? I wonder how it’s going to be.”
